I remember there being a LOT of scenes in which the final battle with Xana seemed close, so I can't say.

Didn't Yumi have a crush on him or something, and then we found out he was working for Xana? Do not remember a thing about Sector 5 though.

Sector 5 (sometimes referred to as Carthage for whatever reason) was the blue sector in which Lyoko's core resided (and so did Xana.) When they first went there, Xana showed him/herself as a squid-ish kinda thing (there was some Greek word they used for that form.) When William first joined the gang, he, Yumi, and Aileta went to Sector 5 and then William got possessed by Xana, causing him to go berserk, and destroy the core. Long story short, Jeremy revives Lyoko, clones William to make his possession inconspicuous. All the sectors are restored, and everyone gangs up to destroy Xana and William.
As for Yumi's crush on Will, I have no idea.

But I will admit to having to look up that word used for Xana's "physical" manifestation, "Scyphozoa". Turns out, it's not Greek, it's made-up-bullshitese.
