I got a digital camera about 3 or 4 years ago, for christmas, and just progressed from there. My dad likes it too, so it always helps. lol

no, its not.. it continues to weigh down on me the older i get.. i think at your age though, they are nice to have, but in reality its not all as important as everybody tells you it is yet. enjoy the freedom and lack of responsibility you have now, because when its gone you will wish dearly that you made more of it.
