If you really want to get some honest and brutal critique, you should post some photos up on [link] If you've got the guts for it, give it a go. You'll get super good super quick

get the Canon 50mm. It's cheap ($80) and indispensable.

which model exactly though? the fast 1.8 or so was a bit more i remember. thats mainly what im looking at is a pretty fast one. at least a 2.8 but a 2 or under preferred, so then i can shoot at a 2.8 and use the best area of glass. still not sure whether prime or zoom but the price will probably decide that for me. i am about to start shooting headshots for models and actors for pay, what would you recommend for that? thanks!

yeah i researched it, the 50mm 1.8, its canons cheapest lens at around $80 so its not super quality i hear. but i think ill get it since i need a fast lens and cant afford anything more right now. thanks for the help man. do you have any pics you like that you shot with it?

yeah those look nice, i think ill pick it up though i wish i could afford the nice 1.4 now. the whole plastice mount on this one is what has me doubting. ive never even seen a plastic mount before. im doing a portrait shoot in a week or so, so i need the lens for what the client wants. low light bedroom, small, shallow dof. thanks for your help though man. ill be posting shots from my 20d soon. just need to make the time to sift through the 4000 pics ive done the past 2 weeks!

It's a little plastic lens, and you're right, it's their cheapest, but for the price it amazingly sharp. I have this lens on my camera 70% of the time even though I own several other L lenses.

I was reviewing my favourites gallery and came across Fractured. I had to check out your gallery again and really had to wonder why I never added you to my watch list. You have an enviable way of capturing the souls of people in your photos. Hopefully I can learn a little of that by watching you.
