I know I'm six days early--and I'm not sure if you'll read this--but:

Happiest of birthdays, Evan. Overstated, probably, but I hope it's true.

Hello, I just found you on a random Mountain Goats google search today. (I'm a big fan.)

And what do you know, I just finished reading the Sandman, too.

TBH, I don't understand all of it (either one) but I swear, they're both fantastic.

I've read through some of your work and comment sometimes. Looks promising.

I came up in a random Mountain Goats search? Awesome.

Sandman is fantastic, and that's what I know

Glad you think "Looks promising" is an understatement, and I hope my work entertains.

Tweede-Kans [2009-10-20 22:51:46 +0000 UTC]

DUDE! You like Christina Rossetti? HAHA! I just had to write a 5-page paper comparing her and Tennyson. XD *That* was interesting. And people are just being blah when they're all like, "OMG, Laura and Lizzie (Goblin Market) are like incestuous lesbians!" And even MORE blah when they think it was an emotional release, let's say, for Christina having a relationship with her sister Maria. O.o Boy people are strange.

Not that I won't deny some authors partook of that--the whole, "Here, let me express my love/a relationship that's taboo in a poem/story"... that's kewl with me and all that. But eh.

Oh--on that random note of the above paragraph: I had the strange inkling to write a story--a longer story--about Virgil and Cebes. Hm. That'd be interesting.

Alright, sorry, I'll shut up and quit spamming your page.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

legacyofjeff In reply to Tweede-Kans [2009-10-22 06:01:32 +0000 UTC]

...there are people who think that about Goblin Market?

I like to encourage a distancing from high-school grade poem/story analysis, but... wha...?

Ah well. I would definitely read said longer story of Virgil and Cebes

Woo, !!

Tweede-Kans In reply to legacyofjeff [2009-10-22 06:12:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I know. I mean, yeah. I know. My prof's all like, "And you're all thinking like a bunch of Freudian modernists if you think it's a sexual poem". He's a riot. He takes some getting used to, because he doesn't explain what he says, and he's SMART. You have to figure it out for yourself, which is really nice, actually, once you get the swing of it...

Oooh. Shweet. I'll have to do research, then, 'cos my fiction prof made a big deal about how I have to research slavery in Rome. *shrugs* Okiedoke. I mean, I'll have to for the revised story anyways, right? So why not have some more fun with them?

Dude, so I came to fav "Underground," and they had four random favorites of yours... and they were all something I'd done XD Funny stuffs.

Platiad. WILL WRITE I SWEAR! Though I got to thinking, should we change platycorn to platicorn? Like unicorn... though personally I think platycorn brings to mind images of cuteness.... which Liuth kinda ain't. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

legacyofjeff In reply to Tweede-Kans [2009-08-20 21:45:18 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha, that's pretty sweet.

Take your time! The last thing I want is for the Platiad to be something that's forced. It's fun right?

I agree, platycorn is more evocative of cute and fluffy. Even though Liuth is not really cute (I still like to think he's fluffy) I don't want to make the Platiad feel too serious.

Tweede-Kans In reply to legacyofjeff [2009-08-22 01:53:14 +0000 UTC]

Point taken! I have nothing but lame excuses for my choices in that canto. I will maintain that good comedy always involves at least some tragedy. It grounds the laughter, gives it meaning.

Question: Cursive, or... whatever not-cursive is? (Hint: Hopefully, you'll be reading it, so choose wisely. )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

legacyofjeff In reply to Tweede-Kans [2009-01-31 22:11:07 +0000 UTC]

If we're speaking in artistic terms: go with what fits best to the piece. I can read/decipher pretty much any handwriting. All of my friend's have atrocious penmanship.

After having to read their writing in high school for projects, I figured I could go into handwriting analysis and be a prodigy. Then I decided against it. Too glamorous.

Not in artistic terms though, non-cursive

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tweede-Kans In reply to legacyofjeff [2009-02-01 00:44:54 +0000 UTC]

That last phrase was all I needed. XD Though handwriting analysis would be cool--if I were to write something, would you analyse it? XD That'd be kind of fun, actually....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

legacyofjeff In reply to Tweede-Kans [2009-02-01 10:55:17 +0000 UTC]

Handwriting analysis is quite fascinating actually. However, I have only the most basic understanding of it
