@_@ Everywhere. Nah, just been super busy with other creative projects and haven't gotten around to posting much here on dA. Mostly because I haven't created anything I'd post other than particularly nifty pictures I've taken. How've you been? ^_^

Okay. You're rude and offensive - if you don't like my art, you don't have to look at it. Insulting somebody else's artwork for no reason at all makes you look like a whiny attention-seeker. I don't know what your problem is :3

Sweetheart, being honest and objective and telling you that this: thundercloudadopts.deviantart.… looks like something traced out of a kid's coloring book, and asking why anyone would pay to use it, is not rude nor is it offensive. If you can't tolerate critique and legitimate questions, perhaps you should either remove your work from a community site, or disable comments on your work. Part of being an artist is receiving the critique and opinions of those that view your work, and using that to calibrate your own performance and hone your own skill. ^_~ Ta, darling.

Oh, I'm sorry. I wasn't aware that "LMAO ...Why would anyone pay anything to use this? It looks like it was traced from a kids' coloring book" counted as helpful critique. If you really wanted to help, actual *gasp* suggestions on improvement would be useful.
And no, it wasn't traced - I used Creative Commons-licensed reference photos from flickr. As a thirteen-year old developing artist, maybe sometimes I don't appreciate people commenting just to say how bad my art is

*shrugs* If you can't take criticism, get out of the art business now, while you're still a "13 year old developing artist". The criticism (both solicited and unsolicited) will only continue to come to you as you work your way through the industry. My issue is not actually with your art itself. My issue is you asking people to PAY YOU for very amateur (as is understandable for a "13 year old developing artist) work. That is arrogant, self important, and quite frankly laughable. If I can find work like this: www.deviantart.com/art/FREE-Li… to use for free, it makes you appear to be revoltingly conceited to demand payment for people to use your work that is clearly of a less developed skill level.

There's a difference between constructive criticism and being downright unkind.
So, I suppose that I should stop selling adoptables altogether, because there are more talented artists doing the same thing? Yeah, I'm fully aware that there are far more detailed linearts out there for free. But that's not going to stop me from at least trying to earn a few points.

Trying to sell substandard (as in, below industry standard, not "your work is shit, quit while you're ahead") material is simply in bad form as an artist. Am I saying you have to be the very best ever to ask for compensation for your work? No. Am I saying that it's ridiculous to ask for payment for something that someone else is very clearly doing better and for free on a free community website devoted to art? Yes. Part of being an artist is being honest with yourself about the quality of your work and whether or not it's reasonable to expect payment for it - "I'm just trying to sell art, which nobody is forcing you to buy.". As a graphic designer, I can very reasonably request industry standard rates for my 2d graphics work. However, my 3d skills are sorely lacking, so it would not be at all reasonable to request that same level of compensation for what is honestly an inferior quality product. However, I fear the distinction may be entirely lost on you.
Revoltingly conceited? Yes. Really. I didn't find it particularly confusing, but you're obviously not understanding what I'm actually saying. It's not your work that causes me to call you self important and arrogant. It is the fact that you are demanding payment for work that other artists on dA are producing better versions of for free.
I'm going to leave the adoptables question alone entirely, (outside of the fact that it's not even a word), it's by far one of the most asinine ideas I've ever seen on an art website. I have no idea why for the love of little green apples someone would pay for a collectible digital image, most of which are the same 2-3 frames with different color combinations slapped on them. So very, very silly.

We clearly aren't getting anywhere with this. I suppose I do see your point, but not everybody thinks the same as you.
For example, if everyone on DA thought that adoptables were an asinine idea, then they wouldn't be so popular. Some people do in fact pay for lineart even when there's better work - either they're looking for something new, or they're just being kind... who knows? I've had someone give me 20 points for a very crappy lineart in the past, and I still don't know why, but I'm not complaining.
If you don't like it, just ignore it. As an artist, I should have the freedom to do what I want, even if others think that I'm stupid or arrogant for doing so.

All I did was comment on it with my (well founded and further expounded upon) opinion, which is my FREEDOM just as your FREEDOM is to post whatever you want and ask for whatever you want! I also never said you were stupid, just arrogant. Talking with you even just this much, I can very clearly see that you are not at ALL unintelligent. You are very articulate and well spoken, especially for someone of your age.
Adoptables are dumb. The end. Deviant Art isn't anywhere near what it used to be (which I can say with some degree of authority and empirical evidence, having been here for roughly 10 years between 2 different accounts)
But where you say "If you don't like it, just ignore it.", well, the same could be said for you. Instead you DELETED the comment I left on the work, came to my profile and posted a PUBLIC MESSAGE trying to take some obscure moral high ground with the caveat that I "Need not reply". That's the equivalent of slapping someone and then saying "No tag-backs!" in a sing-song voice.

After a little more thought, I have decided to remove the lineart from my gallery and re-post it when I've improved.
There's no point in further arguing - although I still can't say I see myself as particularly arrogant for putting it up, I do see your perspective and why it may be smarter to delete it for the time being. Nice talking with you

*shakes head a bit* Putting up artwork as a developing artist is in no way arrogant. The part that struck me as arrogant was asking for payment when better work was available for free, that's all. Like if McDonald's was charging for it's double cheeseburgers when the steakhouse down the road was offering their premium product for a cheaper price. Namasté, girly.
