It's just misinterpreted information. SEGA of America and Europe said that they're gonna focus more on the mobile and PC platforms, since those are the ones that have been giving them more profit lately. It doesn't mean that Sonic is never going to be back in any console, it's just that they're focusing in what gives them more profit. Plus SEGA of Japan, isn't broke as it's American and European counterparts are. In Japan, it's one of the richest companies, meaning, SEGA isn't dead (at least in Japan)

I don't think that'll happen anytime soon. Sonic is not the only franchise they have, remember? They're just focusing in what gives them more profit, which happens to be PC and mobile games. It's not the end of the console games, it's just business issues. Eventually they'll get better in financial terms and console games will become their main priority. I'm sure of it....
