Linux was around before everything, historically speaking. Unix was the precursor to all modern computing systems.
And the Snow Leopard kernal that your computer uses is a Linux kernal.
Mac has been using Linux kernals since the beginning of Mac; the only thing that differs between the two OS's is their idea about open-source - Mac is very strongly anti-open-source, Linux is all about open-source.

No it wasn't, the very first version of Linux, v0.01, was released in 1991. 22 years after the introduction of UNIX in 1969. Remember that Linux is not Unix despite the similar name.

OSX uses a Mach kernel which is a mix of BSD UNIX and NeXTStep which was acquired when Apple bought NeXT computer in 1997. Don't confuse a BSD UNIX kernel with open source Linux. Remember, Linux IS NOT UNIX, hence the phrase "Unix-Like System".
The operating system that OSX is based on is known as Darwin UNIX and is downloadable to registered members of the developer section at Apple. It's completely open source but it uses Apple's own licensing rather than the GPL. I believe the current version is Darwin 9.

Again, completely wrong;
1) The macintosh operating system has been around since the launch of the original macintosh computer in 1984 (1982/3 if you count development time). Version 0.01 of the Linux kernel was released in 1991 and never hit version 1.00 until 1994, ten years after the original Macintosh system was released. By that time the Macintosh was already at version 7.
2) Classic Mac OS systems (System 1 to Mac OS9) were 100% proprietary systems using Micro Kernels and software designed in house by Apple. The original Macintosh System 1, for example, was coded completely from scratch in Motorola 68k assembly language. Not one bit of it was Linux or UNIX which is painfully obvious when a) the system is/was a 100% proprietary in house design, b) Linux didn't exist and c) UNIX was still a proprietary system at the time owned by AT&T, Apple couldn't have used it even if they wanted too.
I suggest you read up on your computer history and trivia because I am still laughing at how wrong you are.

not interested in the tag shit pal. Oh and by the way macs are WAY better than pc's and will be even that much better in the near future. I dont know if you noticed but my current desktop is skinned as mac because it is better than pc. I have always used windows but i'd love a mac. Man you need to get your head on straight. You're very immature the way you act on how you say you hate macs so much.
