yeah i use 3Dsmax as well ... ive had a play around with maya and lightwave but they are a little confusing after being around nothing but max.
im trying to work our how to make caustic lighting at the moment without using any plug-ins.

You can fake caustics but they usually look kinda lame. You can use Mental Ray renderer now that its a standard feature of Max - its really easy to generate caustics with MR.

yeah i just dont know how to set up MR im doing a diploma in 3Darts and they wont teach me caustic lightings *screams* i keeps asking the teacher about it .... all he does is look at me funny.
