I pulled out my old Fern Hollow books again recently and that prompted me to go to dA again and have a look at all your lovely art.

I always wonder what media you use for the Fern Hollow illustrations - it's a mix of things, right? Watercolor, coloured pencils, ink/diluted ink? Gouache? Also, how big are the originals? I just love those books.

You're right, the media was a mix , just whatever felt right at the time. The originals were the same size as the printed books.

One of my favorite books growing up was a Fern Hollow book. I grew up in Germany, not in the UK, which makes it much harder to come by them.
Just so glad you are on dA too and I am able to Added to my devWatch! you.

Hi Francesca! I will need to pass on going this year. I am kind of disappointed in myself because I wanted to paint lots of stuff and take it with me so I have something to show. I never managed to paint :-( (Sad) I can at least submit my art for next years exhibition, but other than that I think that will be it for this year.

BTW I'm sure next year you'll be able to submit your paintings for the exhibit selection (so you'll get a free pass :) (Smile) and... who knows? you'll get selected too?)
If you'll get the chance, it'a a wonderful experience even without showing your stuff to editors, just collecting brochures and watching what has got published this year. I know it's a bit a long way to go to Bologna ^^'
There's another Children's book fair in Frankfurt but I think it's a long way to Frankfurt too ^^

I am from the Frankfurt area, its a lot closer to me than Bologna, not only from a geographical distance point of view ;-) (Wink) Are you going to the Frankfurt fair as well then?

I went to the Bologna fair, wonderful and extremely cahotic as usual (I only went there to talk with some friends and to get an idea of what's going on in the illustrations world). I won't go to the Frankfurt fair, too far :) (Smile) but I wish you good luck. Hug Hug Hug Hug Hug
