Fair point I guess, but you can't really blame the fan base for the sweet style of character portrayal they've adopted. Happy Tree Friends has an adorable, cutsey-ass, sweet enough to make you vomit sugar art style.

You should distinguish canonically cute things from fan twisting.
Cutesy doesn't always work well with humanizations. Flip is best example.
