Im a Junior in college, majoring in graphic design. I actually go to a public liberal arts college. I think its a good way to go because state schools are much less expensive and depending where you live, you will be able to find a program that really develops your skills without ruining your parents pocket book. If thats the direction you want to go, I also recommend that you find out whether or not the college you are looking at offers a BFA degree. The standard art degree at most liberal arts colleges is a BA (Bachelor of Arts). The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is more difficult to obtain but, if you are interested in going on to grad school and getting your MFA, the BFA degree will put you ahead in the competition. Im happy where I am right now. Sometimes I wish the liberal arts college I go to was a bit more in depth with the curriculum and that the student body was relatively more passionate about what they are doing, which is what id expect from a private art school, but I always have grad school to look forward to in that way.
