Thank you. Do you have any idea how to extract the outline and then color it without using a commercial graphics program?

I don't extract the lines, I just color over them, but I've used Adobe Illustrator to make lines. You just trace the original. Or you could do a black and white scan, though for that you'd have to make sure that you have substantial enough lines on your original drawing.

I hope this helps, but I'm still working on an effective method for lining. (Mostly because I don't have the patience to fool around W/ Illustrator and other stuff.)

Thank you. I think I will postpone digitizing and coloring until after I'm able to draw well enough.
