I know right? It's so obnoxious it's funny! I clearly state in several places that I don't want those comments, and yet... here they are. I've decided to go to each account and comment on theirs "please don't thank me for faves."

well i mean you shouldn't get so angry about it. i know it's annoying, but i saw this one comment of a person like begging for forgiveness from you since you shouted at them for thanking you. sorry people are nice and like to thank you for stuff?? it's really not an issue

I know, it's just... I get so excited for the comment, then i see someone thanking me for something that I personally think doesn't warrant thanks. If i fave their art, it's because I liked it. I don't need someone to be like "thanks for the fave." I fave, like, 50 things every time i'm on deviantART. I don't need 50 comments.
It's just... annoying. I suppose i do overreact, but it's clearly all over my page NOT to thank me for it.
I just don't like being thanked 50 times a day.

it's just frustrating. They don't give a fuck who I am. If I didn't fave their art, it would make no difference to them if I didn't exist. I can see we have very different points of view and i can't sway you and you probably won't be able to change my mind, so this "discussion" is just gonna go on forever at this rate. I do appreciate your feedback on it tho.

I was in a really rant-y mood, but what I said still does stand. Unless there's something meaningful in the comment, I don't need a flood of those. It gives me a bit of excitement when I see that I have "feedback," and its so disappointing when it's something I've heard like a hundred times. I usually fave a whole bunch of things at once, going through searches and stuff. So I don't even remember whose art was what. You can understand my frustration, right?

That's the name of one of my favorite post-apocalyptic wasteland protagonists!
It's no problem, I get the same feeling when I see a bunch of notifications, only to find out that they're all watches and a couple people saying "thanks!" Happens on pretty-much every other art site too. People think they're being nice by sending a note to show you they care, but a preconditioned response is usually not going to stand out to anyone. "Thanks" is almost more of a cop-out from giving something deeper or more meaningful, even if it is meant in good taste. Thanking people for enjoying artwork is also just superfluous (different from thanking someone for an actual compliment), but of course the idea is also that it might incline the person to go back and "fav" some more.

When it's the majority of messages that you get on a daily basis, along with the fact that it's just needlessly taking up server and profile space, it is a bit frustrating.
