Hi Shelley I found this tutorial on YouTube that is super fun and gives a great demonstration on shading. It's short but informative , you can work along with it and stop it so you can catch up. It's by a gentleman who is called Proko something I am not sure but he breaks down all the parts to a portrait as a drawing. I will post the link in my next comment so it's easy to copy and paste.
