hi, i love your 'computer case design'. Im actually at the AIB and im thinking of doing modelmaking next year.
could i have your opinion on the course & wether you liked it?
& this may sound like a stupid question, but as a modelmaker do you get to travel frequently?
Sorry again for the questions, but id love to have feedback from someone with experience.
Thanks.

Did you ever end up doing modelmaking?

I loved the Modelmaking course. And from what I've seen and heard AIB is the best modelmaking course in the UK. The resources in terms of tools are very good. I've not worked at a place which has that much machinery and tools etc. So if you do do the course, make the most out of and try as many things as possible.
There was a few months after graduation where I ended up doing some webdesign jobs. Just by pure chance. And I nearly ended up starting my own webdesign company. But even then I wasn't regretting ever doing the modelmaking course. Now I'm back in the modelmaking industry again at an architectural office.
As for travelling, that will depend solely on where you end up. As a freelancer you'll find more opportunities to travel. Some of my classmates have done jobs at different places. Quite a few has been in Dubai. So I'd say it's all up to have you make of it.
It will also depend on how open you are towards different types of jobs. If you are set on a very specific type of jobs it might be harder to find them as the different sectors within modelmaking differs greatly.
Let me know if you got more questions.

I'd like to invite you to have a look at my latest project: Conscience of a Reptile . It's a three-part graphic novel and I've just posted artwork for the first 20 pages. I'd love to hear what you think about it.
