Sounds like an interesting idea. Could you draft a pitch with a little more detail about that and email it to art@jjexpressmagazine.org?

No problem! I really like your style...I work with a children's magazine called JJ Express that uses comics to teach kids about social issues and, as a part of the comics development committee, I would really like to include your style of work too. Would you be interested in working with us; trying out some comics or illustrating the few articles/stories we include in each issue? If you're interested - we can put you in a database of artists and we'll contact you if we get an assignment that fits with your style and you can decide whether or not you want to do it.
OR - you can come up with your own comic ideas and pitch them to us. Would you be interested? Thanks!

I can get someone to send you a copy of the magazine. It's relatively new. Basically I'll pitch your portfolio at the next editor's meeting and if we come up with something that we think would be a good fit for you, we'll let you know or put your name in our artists' database for future projects. How are you at working with deadlines?

ATh-Armherst In reply to sirjackfrost [2009-10-05 00:21:49 +0000 UTC]
I work pretty good with deadlines. I can finish a a comic or illustration If I have have at least 2 1/2 to 3 weeks to work on it.
Do you guys have a specific policy about the artist's rights?

Hello. I was just wondering whether the editors received the comic draft about the "Secret Helpers" story... I was using my gmail account to send it because for some reason, I just can't login to my yahoo mail account... It's fixed now, though. I tried to email them about this too but there was no reply... Was it too long? I'd gladly redo the whole thing if there are things that you'd want changed... Just please reply... Thanks 👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Got it - sorry for the late reply - there is often a lag time while editors review work! Let me know if you don't receive a reply in a week.

ehehe... it's okay... I've already gotten a reply last monday... so it was just about a week after I submitted the work...
I was really nervous though... but thanks.
Anyways, they just made me redo a few pages and I'm almost done with it. I'd still probably e-mail it on the 24th (it's the deadline they gave me), though cuz I'd have to go to the internet cafe to send it.
I really do hope it gets published on your next issue, though.
Thanks again!

Hi Jack, it's me, cynthia
I haven't been able to access my email since I lost my password and forgot the answer to my security question X_X
I was wondering if you received my final draft and what your thoughts were about it and whether there was anything else important.
As soon as I get my email back, I'll let you know

Hi,
Thanks for following up with us. As luck would have it, we just got out of an editor meeting so we have now made a couple of editorial decisions for the next couple of issues. The theme for the Winter 2009 issue is "Time: The 4th Dimension". We are envisioning the magazine to be literally a progression of time - starting from prehistoric to future. If you have any ideas, please let us know. Otherwise, we'll see if we come up with any ideas that call for your style of drawing.
Ideas are due no later than July 15th, 2009. To pitch an idea, email art@jjexpressmagazine.org the following
(1) Title
(2) Cast of characters (sketches and bios)
(3) Number of pages
(4) Brief story/plot line
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. (The next couple of themes include country/city, gross things, and superheros.) Have fun!

hey - no problem! I was interested to see that you're taking a comic book class. As you probably know from my profile, I work with a children's magazine that uses comics to teach kids about social issues and we haven't had any fantasy/sci-fi comics yet. Would you be interested in working with us? If you're interested - we can put you in a database of artists and we'll contact you if we get an assignment that fits with your style and you can decide whether or not you want to do it.

Ah okay if I think of something brilliant I'll let you know (and that sounded a bit sarcastic but it wasn't)
Do you mean like a picture or comic or something? Or anything I think of?

Anything really would be fine, if you could just e-mail 3 samples of your art to art@jjexpressmagazine.org it would be much appreciated. It could be an idea, a comic, an interpretive piece, a script, an article, a poll, anything! Our next issue is on the general topic of food and we usually target middle schoolers so anything in that area would be preferred.

Ah yeha, well Id have one idea I dont know if it would be right for you but Id have lots n lots ideas for illustrationwork etc on the topic "Dont waste food" ...
I guess it would be quite nice to shwo the children that they shouldt only play with their food and throw it into the rubbish after...and you could point on the water waste too..
Just an idea

Mhm it would be easier for me if you give me a specific topic, because I dont know what your magazine actually already had. Plus I dont know which subjects would be suitable for your mag (like I dont think teenage pregnancy would suit in or something like that XD).
Something very important to know for me would be: do you want me to draw with cute animals or cute styled real persons (chibis)?
And should it be illustrating work OR a comic etc?
I know I like to ask a lot XD But I want to be sure that Im doing it right for u

SCRATCH THAT! We're actually doing a food related topic. If you could just e-mail 3 samples of your art to art@jjexpressmagazine.org it would be much appreciated. It could be an idea, a comic, an interpretive piece, a script, an article, a poll, anything! Our next issue is on the general topic of food and we usually target middle schoolers so anything in that area would be preferred.
