One really good technique that a professional comic book artist gave me, was when you're wondering if there's something wrong with your picture, hold it up to the light and turn it backwards. (if you're drawing on paper lol. if you're using computer, you can always just flip it.) The things that are "wrong" with it will tend to pop out if you switch it around, and make it easier to figure out what to do next.
