Plus, he was a Machiavellian Realpolitik practitioner. So, he was very subversive and amoral by default. (Amoral, such an odd term.)

Well.. Alright. I mean... Germany was a cohesive unit, but it wasn't exactly a country. It was connected by trade unions but was mainly dominated by Prussia and Austria. They set up a parliament, but the impression I got was that it really wasn't until Bismark that the actual country of Germany emerged. But it was less Germany and more Prussia with all of the German states tacked onto it.

As for the man himself, he was definitely amoral and constantly defied the parliament that didn't do anything to stop him simply because they couldn't back themselves up. The only reason I really like him is because he messed with a telegram just to engage France in war. That was just so epic. (But not really. Napoleon's still the best.)

Yeah. Napoleon wasn't French. He was born on the island of Corsica which was taken over by France during his childhood. His father was really ambitious and wanted to ensure a future for his children so he sent young Napoleon to a French military academy which he wouldn't have been able to go to had his father not been vying for connections within the French elite. For a while Napoleon absolutely despised France.. Don't really blame him.

Yeah. Wow. They have much in common, except I think Napoleon was generally less of a prick. But.. You know, they're both pricks. Napoleon was a very pessimistic at times slightly suicidal one. He once wrote a note to his brother that if people didn't start treating him like a someone he'd jump in front of a carriage.
