Blender is great "in my opinion" because it's open source, so the community is the driving force behind what you see in future updates. The fact that it's free is great. And I've seen images with just as high a quality come out of blender as any other 3d software. No matter what though, you're always going to see pro's and con's between different programs. I haven't gotten around to learning softimage yet, although I do have it on my computer

well i love it cause i went to school to learn it thought i learned more on my own....school taught me i liked the program and how to waste alot of money sadly
