oh and also what kind of weapons do they use?
hand to hand combat style should probably be ju-jitsu and judo
what do you think?

Since they don't have any natural weapons like the other races and are pretty flimsy in hand to hand they typically rely on ranged weapons, which they are naturally gifted at due to their dexterity and sharp eyes.
Yeah, any martial art that uses an opponent's strength is good for the hakkir.

Intresting I was thinking along the same lines!

Yeah, I could tell.
Interesting to note that during their more primitive times their hand to hand weapons were designed to be lightweight and sturdy so spears were their preference, not to mention it keeps the enemy a little further back than a sword would, and it can be thrown. Bows are also devastating in the hands of a winged hunter. In the current time of LotS though, they pretty much just use energy weapons, both for melee and ranged.

interesting will keep this in mind, but there weapons have to be small and light weight, kinda like StarTrek phasers, because big bulky weaponry would just get in there way! and if something is big it has to be elegantly designed so that it can be carried and used efficiently!

Precisely, but remember that the Hakkir specialize in elegant design. It's kind of their thing.

Hi how are you? I just wanted to ask some questions about the Hakir homeworld?
no.1 whats the climate like?
no.2 what sort of building structures do they use?
no.3 you say that they are the most human like physically but can we change some features like the ears?

Very green. There are a lot of mountains too. Younger world than our earth with stronger tectonic forces, earthquakes and volcanic activity isn't uncommon. Hakkir are migratory and originally nomadic. They can sense earthquakes before they occur and are confused about other races' inability to do so.
They prefer arches, columns, and round buildings, it's both stronger and takes more skill to achieve. They build out of stone mostly, though enhanced now with advanced metals instead of plain stone. They also like wood, but to a lesser degree. The plastics they build with usually mimic either stone or wood.
The ears won't be like the Alvani, but I'm open to other minor changes, just remember that Hannon literally created the Hakkir as the pinnacle of his skills as a genetic scientist before deciding to use his skills to achieve the perfect soldier. They were his greatest achievement before leaving the Solari Empire and they were designed to look like angels.

wow! I had totally forgotten I asked all that! your feed back regarding my sketches will also be much appreciated, when you have the time ofcourse! this is very interesting because I was thinking high mountains and forests........migratory hmmm.... i suppose that means that there cities get destroyed and all there archeticture is always relatively new, what you are describing reminds me slightly of Rivendale! and another thing I forgot to ask what sort of animals do they have?

Yeah, I've been mostly offline for a while now. Finally made myself sit down and reconnect, despite the internet issues.
Yes and no. Their major cities and spaceports don't rest too close to fault lines and are built to survive the earthquakes, but their towns and rural areas as well as their farmland are often rebuilt, since volcanic ash is great for rapid growth of vegetation, and people from those areas are still strongly nomadic.
Interestingly enough the strongest resistance to the communistic society of the Hakkir is farmers who wish to return to a lifestyle more harmonious with nature, like the Phaexi have. There is even a group of these individuals who technically seceded from the Hakkir commonwealth to form a feudal society on their own world. They still are part of the Alvani Empire, and though they want to break away from them they are afraid to. The Draconis League is on the other side of the galaxy and their world sits right next to Alvani space. Not to mention their society structure wouldn't be allowed in the Draconis League and that's the whole reason they broke away from the Hakkir. Surprisingly they run their feudal society much like the commonwealth, but the main difference is the emphasis on minimal impact on the environment. The Phaexi are their idols.
Their animals are as varied as earth's. I haven't gotten on designing the animals of most of the races, other than to say the Phaexi had almost no natural predators, probably due to early genetic tampering by skilled biokineticists, and the Kamiin world is full of dangerous monsters. Mainly I didn't really think about the other races' native creatures because they are all genetically engineered except the Phaexi and Kamiin.

but if you were to choose a landscape from earth it'd be a mixture of Hawai and Switzerland, I suppose (because I'm unfortunately not very good at environments and will require a ref.) and thank you for the critter folder

I suppose it would. I hadn't really put too much thought into it before, but feel free to ask more questions. It's conversations like this that have built LotS lore into what it is.
You're welcome for the critter folder. I had always planned to put one in, I just hadn't gotten around to it. Feel free to go crazy, and ask as many questions as you want to. I'm always happy to talk about LotS lore, no matter how obscure.

So much. I have a game to go to tonight, I'm running one tomorrow, as well as an intro course for RPGs, and on Sunday I'm going over the Psionics of my own game with the guy I've got writing it. I also have to finish the next chapter of my book and paint my warhammer 40k army sometime before thursday. In other news I now have a probable financial backer for Legends of the Solari, so I have to call up the lawyers and get the paperwork rolling on that. My web developer says he is getting closer, and now that I'm ready to start the LLC I have to determine and stick to an opening date for the online beta. Which reminds me, I still have to put together the intro campaign to teach new players how to play LotS. I've only got it a quarter of the way ready.
How are you?

my life suddenly seems so insignificant. im really happy for you, Shane!
I am sitting in my room, all day, figuring out new angles, techniques and experiments with anamorphic illusion. That takes up most of my time, and also a sketch or so a day.
holidays have begun, but thats only a blunt statement im afraid, as there is no time for anything anyway, having to balance a lot of stuff in 24 hours.
however, i do follow a timetable and get things done on a daily basis, so nothings really "stopped" except for the commisions.
Other stuff is pretty much nada atm.

Aw, I'd never call your life insignificant. Remember that without artists like you my ideas would stay in the realm of my imagination. It's artists and programmers and musicians and other specialists who can bring my ideas to life. Even my books won't really be successful without great cover art.
