I gave my friend mp3s of Mezmerize and Toxicity today, I would have given him the rest too but I have them on CD, not my pen drive xD
I have this dragon, I need to change his name and breed and get him different apparel but he makes me laughΒ flightrising.com/main.php?dragβ¦

They expanded the colour wheel on Flight Rising last year, my first thought when they announced the terracotta colour was a banana banana terracotta pie dragon (banana was already a colour) lmao
Yeah, I just want to see anyone live I guess, I've never been to a rock concert bigger than a bar gig q: It's annoying cause System's touring this year but they're coming nowhere near me, and if they do come to the UK it's for one day somewhere in the south of England... I'm right at the top of Scotland and then some. q:

The biggest concert I've been to was Thy Art Is Murder because bands hardly come to where I am in Aus I've been to lots of local gigs though, I missed lamb of gods tour last year and I was sooo heartbroken. I had saved up so much for flights and tickets but it sold out before I got paid I cri.

Yeah, I've been to local gigs. Got an album and t shirt of one band and another band's EP, they're pretty cool! One of them play a lot of Foo Fighters covers cause they don't have so many originals, the other one's writing for a second album xD

There are a lot of folk acts here, loads of bands playing traditional music and stuff. Not quite my cup of tea but drop D on an acoustic guitar is great regardless. Shame most of them use standard tuning
But there was a folky band playing the same night as the ones I mentioned before (a kinda pop punk band and a metal band), but they amped it up a little I guess and had electric instruments (a Les Paul and an electric violin) and effects pedals, it was actually really cool. I'd have filmed some but I don't wanna look like an ass xD

That sounds really cool, because I come from a small town we have about 4 deathcore/metal bands and they don't really have a unique sound to them because it's mostly covers. My brothers friend is trying to start an experimental melodic pirate metal band and I'm honestly excited to see how that goes haha. Sorry it's taking ages for me to reply btw, our time zones are very different and I receive your messages when I'm asleep Also I hate being the person that records at shows, but when I record it's usually only a minute or two so I'm enjoying the show in person and not through a screen.

I can never see any of the bands here though, only at events where they let under 18s in- most of them play little gigs in bars and the like. I'm only 16 this year q:
There are quite a few cover bands as well, my mum's fiance is actually in a funk cover band c: I'm pretty sure they have a guy playing saxophone and stuff as well lol
I want to start a band myself but nobody really likes me, it would probably be kinda difficult q: I'd rather play guitar in a band at this point as well, there's bands looking for drummers and I can kinda play but not that well. Then again though I'm comparing myself to guys like Matt Cameron that I listen to a lot lmao
Aaahh, it's ok, I'm used to it xD Yeah, I'm not really a fan of recording shows, but I do watch/listen to a lot of old bootlegs... If I do record I pretty much do the same, but I'll sometimes also just hold the camera in the general direction of the stage, let it record and just watch the show normally. haha

Same most of the shows are 18+ I'm 15 in march and I look way younger so I can't get into 18+ shows but I know some people my age that sneak in. Honestly I'd love to start a band but I'm not the best at guitar, drums I'm kinda okay at but I think I'm better at art than music.
I've been playing guitar for 3 months now I think? But I started when I was 9 and stopped for quite some time and forgot most stuff. I can't get lessons either because it's $70 just for an hour but my brother is trying to teach me (by teaching I mean he's showing off instead of actually teaching me lmao) so I'm trying to teach myself but it gets confusing, I'm at the point I don't know where to go or what to learn? So I joined a music class at my school this year and hopefully some teachers and students will help me haha.
I can play 13 songs but it's mostly just foo fighter, nirvana, guns n roses, green day and this one Opeth song. I know a couple Zakk Wylde and Hendrix licks as well I tried to learn some Buckethead stuff but noooo nononope nah, that shit is HARD lol.
The other day I cried for ages because I couldn't play a song without messing up, and whenever I looked at my guitar I got teary eyed :') guitar is so frustrating but I have a habit of just picking up my guitar when I go into my room. And I'll be like wtf when did I grab my guitar, and just sit there playing on my phone with my guitar on my lap hahaha.

I know people my age that get drunk every weekend... I don't like the taste or smell of alcohol or the idea of being drunk so I've never drank a significant amount before xD
I've been playing guitar for maybe four, five years now? I had lessons to start with but I eventually just started messing around with it myself once I figured out tunings, chords and tab, but it's probably easier for me since I have perfect pitch. I don't need a tuner or anything, and I can learn stuff by ear pretty easily. It's why I dropped music in school, they wanted me to read sheet music and I'd rather learn by ear hah
I think I have a good ear for music in general, I've never bothered with scales but I can tell if something ts not in that scale...? I don't know if that's normal or not though oops
I had free lessons at school but they stopped after three years for some reason so I got more private lessons, they cost me Β£7 for 45 minutes if I remember correctly? I never understood why people would charge ridiculous prices (dunno the exchange rates but $70 sounds like a LOT) for music tuition s:
I can play quite a lot of songs, but I don't tend to go for leads/solos, I prefer playing the rhythm parts usually. I taught myself loads of System Of A Down, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Tool songs, and loads of other stuff as well. Some of them I can play on bass as well, Schism by Tool is really good fun on bass.
Oh man, I can't see myself ever playing anything by Buckethead lmao
Have you tried going slower until you get it right a few times and then speeding up gradually? I did that with B.Y.O.B. because it's really fast, I can play it quite well now c:
I sometimes do that, but it usually only happens when I'm looking up a tab and I get distracted by Flight Rising or something, lol

Yeah, I personally don't drink much, when I drink its usually just a sip or half a can because I get drunk pretty quickly so I've discovered lmao. I don't like the taste either except for apple cider, and rum and coke but thats about it.Β
And jeez tell me about it smh, I tried to look for cheaper lessons but the average here is $35 per 30mins, bloody ridiculous D:< That's how I've been learning most of the songs, playing slow then speeding up when I get the hang of it, but because I'm fairly short (4'10) my hands are tiny as fuck haha. my 1 year old nephews hands are half the size of mine! I find it hard to reach with my tiny fingers, my mum and brother recommend I switch to bass because the neck is skinnier, but I think I prefer guitar. Besides I've held a bass before and I was so tiny compared to it lol. I was trying to learn Wings of a Butterfly by HIM btw^^
I love the sound of Tool but I don't think I'm good enough to play their stuff just yet, I'm currently learning Freak by Silverchair and thats going well I want to slowly start playing metal stuff, I've always liked Proggressive metal like Opeth and Dreamtheater because you can mish mash different genres in prog. I always thought snazzy solos were cool, I remember looking up guns n roses stuff when I was 8 or 9 and seeing a video called 'slash vs buckethead' and was like "WOOOooooOOWWWW HESS GOT A BUCKEETTT ON HIS HEAD OMGGG THATS A COOL SOUND?!?!" and begging my mum for a guitar and to get my brother to teach me haha.Β
My dream was short lived when the school music teacher was like "nah go find ur own music teacher" but at the time we lived in a small rural town and the closest music teacher were the ones at school. And we weren't going to drive 2 hours every week for lessons so that sucked. My brother was being all edgy and refused to teach me stuff because at the time he had an attitude that was like "pfft drums ONLY" So I taught myself a couple of chords and smoke on water then gave up only this year I got interested again because I went into the basement and saw my guitar that had been packed away since we moved to the city and was like BRO I NEED TO RELIVE MY DREAM!! HAHA and then I looked up lesson prices and was like oh. So I'm trying very hard to teach myself!!! (ΰΈ'Μ-'Μ)ΰΈ

What kind of guitar do you have? Different guitars have different necks, I only have strat style ones at the moment but I heard that Gibson SGs have pretty skinny necks and Les Pauls have really chunky necks, strats are probably on the smaller side as well q: I wouldn't say bass is any easier fretting wise than guitar because the strings are spaced out more, they're a lot bigger and the neck's much longer because the frets need to be bigger. My hands are pretty small as well but I was told I have long fingers...? I'm decent at multitasking as well so I'm good at drums but I'm clumsy as hell and I constantly hit the wrong things when I play instruments. I've never gotten 100% on a Guitar Hero song, even the really easy ones, because I always end up accidentally hitting the wrong button or strumming wrong even though I can play the song with my eyes closed lol
My mum doesn't buy me guitars anymore, she got me my acoustic when I started playing but after that she wouldn't get me another so I just buy them myself now. I have 5; a strat, a strat knockoff, some kind of ibanez, my bass and my acoustic. I'd love a twelve string bass, the intro/outro to Jeremy by Pearl Jam is something I really like. Apparently Jeff used 12 strings/8 strings on some other songs (Habit, Blood, Why Go, Leash, Lukin, Go, State Of Love And Trust, Rearviewmirror, maybe more) and they're all songs I really like
There was a time when I didn't play so much, I wasn't practising because I had nothing I really wanted to play, but once I started getting more into rock music I played more because I liked the songs c:

I have a strat at the moment but its very, very bad :') I borrow my brothers Gibson SG sometimes and I find that easier to play, mostly because it looks so cool and I find I play better when I like my guitar. I tried to play a Gibson Explorer but I really didn't like the body, it was so uncomfortable. I asked for a second hand ibanez (forgot which one) thats $150-$300 for my birthday and hopefully I'll get it, my mum used to play bass so she's cool with my new hobby. Most of my siblings are interested in music actually, my sister plays acoustic (she's more of a ukulele player tho) and owns 4 ukuleles hahaha, my brother is a drummer and guitarist and used to be in a band, they toured around Australia and New Zealand until their singer passed away.Β
But yeah, my strat is an SX strat that we bought for $50 when I was 9 its absolutely terrible. The strings buzz everywhere, one of the pickups don't work, overall a crappy guitar. I really can't wait for a new one! I plan to save up for a new practice amp and a brand new guitar when I improve. I'm decent at drums but I'm also pretty clumsy so I do the same thing lmao, I trip on nothing at least once a day and knock things over. Except for my hands, I can make miniature furniture and good at teeny tiny details?? So idk why I embarrass myself publicly on the daily with my constant faceplants.
A twelve string bass sounds interesting! I'd feel weird playing with that many strings tho lol, I watched a vid of this huge guitar with so many strings it could of been a harp. I forgot what it was called but I loved the sound of it

My uncle's got an SG, I don't see him much though. He had to move away from here because he's in the RAF q: He was up here last weekend though
I've never really had much of a chance to play anything other than strat-style guitars, there's not a shop here that sells big-name electric guitars. I got my actual strat off someone who ordered all the parts online and built the guitar. To be honest I'm not a big fan of how Les Pauls look but I wouldn't mind a gold top... That would never happen though, I heard they're bloody expensive!
A lot of those weird shapes are probably better for standing up and playing (flying V, explorer, stuff like that), but they do look badass o:
My sister gets fiddle and piano lessons, she's nowhere near as into it as I am though. She hates practising and to be brutally honest she's pretty crap... But she'll never get any better with her attitude to practise. I didn't
I got my ibanez secondhand with a stand, a strap and a pack of strings for Β£90. It still isn't totally cleaned up from the previous owner though, they probably smoked so much the guitar got addicted. It stank for weeks even after I wiped most of the cigarette crap off it, and the bridge and pickups are rusting a little, and the tuning pegs are a bit stiff. I was gonna buy new parts but I bought a record player, I needed one of those as well. Mum told me I should get a job washing dishes at this one restaurant, apparently they give you money from tips as well as the pay for the job so you get a lot from it. I hate washing dishes but I can't talk to people very well at all so it's better than the waiter/cashier jobs everyone else seems to get at my age
Was it that huge 24 string one? www.premierguitar.com/ext/reso⦠That thing's crazy! The 12 string ones aren't as big as that, it's a similar idea to a 12 string guitar with the normal strings and strings right next to it that are an octave higher, except the 12 string bass has two strings an octave higher than the normal string.
www.12stringbass.net/ament8x.j⦠<-- that's Jeff Ament and the one he used a lot in Pearl Jam's early days, dunno if he still uses it because I don't watch bootlegs past 2003 lmao
basschat.co.uk/uploads/monthly⦠<-- and that's a close-up of what I presume is a replica? Cause I'm pretty sure Jeff got his custom made. The strings are a bit more visible there

Oohhhh I was a little confused when you said 12 string and expected it to be 12 individual strings and a huge fret board haha. That looks so cool! I love the sound of 12 string guitar and I bet that sounds awesome. And yeah that tends to happen with second hand stuff, if you buy off Facebook groups I'm pretty sure you can ask the if you come over and check the quality of the guitar before you buy it c:
I'd love to play piano and fiddle! If I were her I wouldn't stop practicing, but I guess everyone has things they enjoy. I know someone who likes playing instruments but doesn't like listening to music and I honestly don't understand that lol. I really like Flying V guitars, if I had a custom guitar I'd definitely have it in the shape of a Flying V with some snazzy designs on the body and fretboard.
I'm okay talking to people but I can be pretty awkward and tend to mumble, I don't really like talking to people I don't know either so jobs where I have to speak to people only a little would be great for me. I deliver catalogs and just do odd jobs for extra cash, I would love to get a job in an art or record store though because then I'd feel like I know what I'm doing ^^

Yeah, that confused me initially as well xD It does sound really nice, like I said before you can hear it in a lot of Pearl Jam's early stuff, most notably Jeremy right at the start
I did buy it off a facebook group, but all that for Β£90 is a bit much to ask if it was all in prime condition haha
Buying parts would cost less than selling the guitar and buying a new one anyway. I like the idea of having it sort of customised as well, I might try and get some stickers and stuff as well. It's just solid, slightly sparkly blue so it's a bit boring compared to my strat -->Β fav.me/d8uz1td
I put one of these stickers on it under the bridge images.991.com/large_image/Pea⦠and I love it. It's a great guitar o:
I used to play fiddle but I got bored and quit. I remember most of the theory from it...? They taught us a little about sheet music, I was always terrible at reading it but I remembered enough of it that third-year music theory at school was just revision. That is kinda weird... I play because I like to listen xD Vs are cool, I'd love one. I've thought about getting a blank wooden body, all the other parts and some paint and varnish and painting my own design on a guitar but I have no idea where I'd get the money from or what to paint on the guitar lmao
Custom inlays would be nice actually, most of my guitars just have dots.
I get all shaky when I have to talk to strangers, I think I might have social anxiety or something s: Someone suggested writing songs for other people but I don't like that. Nobody would pay to use it anyway, the only people I've heard of that do that are pop singers and I don't write pop songs. I just need a band and a drum kit, then I could make demos and bring it to them so we can all work on it

v1cinityofobscenity In reply to SN4KEMAN [2017-01-30 03:17:03 +0000 UTC]
Wow that's a really cool guitar! I can read a little sheet music and but because I didn't choose music as my subject last year I forgot how to read most of it lol, I'm sure it'll all come back to me once I go back to school though I remember a little bit of theory as well. I've seen a guitar with dolphin shaped inlays and thought that was so awesome, PRS has bird inlays I'm pretty sure.
If I were ever to paint a guitar I'd want to dip paint (I think that's what it's called?) it in white and grey then paint some sort of artwork with lots of detail over it
youtu.be/zPlbKUt0W9k
I use to be like that, I couldn't even order food without stuttering then staying awake at night feeling really embarrassed about it. Forcing myself to talk to people and just trying to do as many things that I usually would be too scared to do (like hanging out with friends, concerts, taking walks around town by myself etc..) helped me. I also talked to a therapist and school councillor for a while and that helped me lots as well ^^
Song writing isn't really my strong point, I can write stories but for some reason songs and poems just don't work for me. I'd love to be in a band tbh, writing songs and jamming with people looks like so much fun.

Yee I love this guitar :'D
I don't usually like really complicated inlays but dragon ones would be cool. The shape of the guitar would have to be more complicated for me though, to balance out the crazy inlays. I think the dots look fine on strats and stuff cause they're a simple shape for an electric guitar
I did a thing a while ago when I traced over a picture of an Iceman and then did a custom paint job concept, can't be bothered to dig it up though. It was a while ago, I think it was a really dark blue with a red dragon on it
I think that's the way they painted the guitars like mine, pretty sure they did some teles as well as strats. The official ones had 3-ply scratchplates though - they were black either side with a white "stripe" in the middle - but mine's just totally black, and it has a Mexican neck. The hot rails totally make up for it though, I love how they sound
I never sat remembering any of it though, I just end up stuttering my way through ordering a meal and then forgetting about it five minutes later. I try not to think about bad things in the past too much and to just stay in the present, unless it's a really big thing like the grudge against my cousin... I'm really good at distracting myself whether I mean to or not xD
I don't usually come up with things intentionally, I'd usually be thinking of something else and then I start "playing" some riff in my head and then I work out how to play it and sometimes record it on my phone in case I forget it. There's nothing more than just riffs though, I don't have anything for putting more tracks and drum machine things on q:
I improv things sometimes as well when I'm just messing around with the guitar. I haven't got a clue how keys or scales go but I can tell when something sounds "off" if you know what I mean?Β

I was scrolling through some of your artwork when you first followed me and I saw the guitar you were talking about :3 it looks pretty funky!
I wish I could forget embarrassing moments like that, I still remember that embarrassing thing I did when I was 6 and cringe about it lmao. And same I don't really hold grudges unless it's a sibling, I'm really passive aggressive so when they piss me off I'll eat toast in their bed so it's all crummy or pull all the clothes out of their dresser lmao. One time I set my brothers shirt on fire but I felt bad after and was like "okaY JEEZ CALM DOWN M8" but that was probably the first time I was angry not just annoyed.
I'll be messing around on my guitar and mash up bits of songs I've learnt because I'm still learning but sometimes I'll come up with a cool sounding riff. That's only SOMETIMES though haha, most of the time it's just a terrible noise >.<

Might redraw it sometime, from what I remember it was a pretty nice design...
I used to put bugs in my mum's bed (lmao mm) but it wasn't a passive-aggressive thing, I just loved bugs when I was little. xD
Apparently I used to pick up bugs off the ground at nursery when I was outside and play with them in the doll's house. I don't think I ever played with actual dolls, I do remember buying this toy tractor from a shop when I was 3 or 4 though and that was the best thing ever till I got this big dragon that roared and walked
To be honest though I'll probably put terrible noises into whatever music I make... I have this effects board thing with load of stuff on it- distortion, reverb, delay, fuzz, pretty much anything you could think of, and it has a big pedal for volume/wah/drop pedal things. You can only play one note at a time when you use the drop pedal option though, and I was just messing around one day, I distorted the tone as much as I could and dropped the pitch as far as it would go (well, an octave, so it was like playing a bass) and started playing the notes in For Whom The Bell Tolls by Metallica but just letting the E string just ring out and making weird noises with the higher parts, while I did that the open string would cut off and it would just be this kinda bleeping sound until I stopped playing the higher notes and then the string sound cut back in. That description was probably terrible but whatever xD
