Your recent uploads brought you to mind as a person who might find these illustrator templates useful. [link]
No relation to the creator. I just think they rock!

Hey!
Glad to see that you've added more stuff - your artwork continues to be inspirational (as much as your designs useful).
Are more currency designs planned for the future?

Thanks. Yes, I'm working on some currency for a client. Nothing I can show yet. I didn't have any time to finish my Lord of the Ring side project. I might pick it up again some day.

Glad to hear you are getting some business, and that it's not slow for everyone.

I think most Thracian currency is coinage not paper if I'm not mistaken. I haven't done any coins.

Yes that's correct. Ancient Thrace has only coins. However our micronation wants banknotes. Can you make them? Do you want to be part of this huge project? Please!

Sorry I can't take on any projects right now.

So good sir, I haven't seen you post anything in a while. Are you still in the art business?

Thanks for the complements. I guess you can't choose when the creative muse touches you. Sometimes I'll go through a month or two of no activity and then get a flurry where I can't stop.

Oh by the way, can you suggest any books on patterns that could be used in creating currency?

That's a problem. I haven't seen any books other than currency collector books.

Jerry --
Cool stuff! ...like in REALLY cool.
Have a question about your piece, BSG Currency Galactica (Backside) dated 08/08/2008, what did you use to/how did you create the image of William Adama giving it the effect? Is it a plug-in?

I use a Photoshop Plugin called Cutline by Andromeda software. [link] It works best on hi rez continuous tone images. After I get the cutlines like I want I place the file in Illustrator and do a live trace on it and expand so I can colorize it the way I want. Live trace also smooths out the cutlines. The Cutline plugin has a terrible interface and its sometimes really hard to get the effect you want but with trial and error I can get it to work like I want on most images.

Hello again, quick question:
Photoshop has vector programs built into it - do you think that it is possible to make currencies and such in that?
π: 0 β©: 1
vectorgeek In reply to Alt-Reality [2009-09-12 05:24:27 +0000 UTC]
Photoshop has a pen tool for creating vector paths but it doesn't have the blend and live path effects that Illustrator has. I'm not saying its not possible with Photoshop but Illustrator has much more power when it comes to vector tools.

Wow, you were completely right!
Just after experimenting for the last couple of days, I'm kind of amazed at how much you can do.
Think I'll run out to the library and Barnes and Noble for some books!
