^^ erm, i was thinking about starting out in jewlery, and i kno that wireworking is a huge part of this

well dear, the best advice i can give is, get some cheaper wire and pliers and start making wire stuff!
some simple loops and wiggles, just to get familiarized with the tools and how the wire works.
Even make some jewelry with it and as your confidance builts move to better materials!!!
but always, always have fun doing it!

yes, copper wire is softer than most other wires, and has more trouble holding the shape
try going to those shops that sell cheap stuff, they usually have these coils of wire and it's perfect to use for this, it holds the shape better and it's fairly inexpensive.
you can even use it to make items for yourself and as hifts, even sell, though not to people who are alergic to pewter metals

mostly all cheap wires have the same composition, but they come in a variety of colors and thicknesses. they are made of galvanized steel and are good for practicing 
pewter metals are metals containing a high level (up tp 90%) of tin and sometimes people are alergic. Ither metals that cause allergies are metals with nickel which is most common type of cheaper metals

I'm a wire newbie. I only have two pairs of pliers and 3 spools of wire. I recently bought a jig and a vice. I need more wire, but I promised myself after spending over $100 on supplies and tools recently that I wouldn't buy any more supplies/tools until I actually ran out of something.
