Nice. I want to get back into 3D modelling. I used to use Lightwave 7. Would you recommend 3DS Max?

I've only ever used 3DS Max so I can't really compare and contrast with any authority, though I've always gotten the impression that both could do more or less the same stuff. Certainly both can create beautiful renders - but I don't know if one is easier to use, or more powerful.

Makes me think of serving on Slicerak. Good times...... (well, when I wasn't getting shot at.

Awesome modeling and composition.
The design of the ship in and of itself is also neat.

Does remind me of the Narn ships in B5. But the
rings just aft of center make me think of
the Vulcan ships in the Enterprise TV series.
Overall, I really like it!!!

I'm going to be starting 3D modeling and animation soon and I'm wondering, how long did it take you to get to this level of ability?

I've been at it off and on for a decade or so but I still pretty much just brute force my way through it using really simple techniques over and over - mashing parts together until it starts to look like I want.

The ring reminds me of the drive system on the Volcun ships off Enterprise

The rings probably spin (like on the vukcan ships) to induce a level of artificial gravity

My thought was that they were counter rotating so the torque would cancel out (and it would look cool).

I can see why this was featured!
I like the hazy feel to it.
Makes it look less computer and more like a great painting.

Reminds me when I was stationed on the Tiger's Claw. Oh wait, don't want to get flamed by some Kilrathi. Never mind!

Looks great.
