Description Jinty is a tank engine who is well known for being one of the seven engines from the Other Railway who ran the railway whilst the eight famous engines went to the 'Big City'. Later on he was purchased by Hatt as part of the Steam Trust, and was overhauled to working order along with Brad. At first he was commissioned at the pilot at Tidmouth, but since then he has been transferred to working on the Wellsworth branch line.

Jinty was introduced in the Railway Series book #12 'The Eight Famous Engines', and you can read about him in the Sodor Island Forum's ERS Library, in the following books:
ERS 53- Brad the American Engine
ERS 67- Jinty the Shunting Engine
ERS 91- Pug the Saddletank Engine
ERS 117- Great Western Engines
ERS 152- Ted and Jinty's New Positions

What happened to Pug in the ERS?

Was he withdrawn or preserved like Jinty?

He was preserved. The summary for his ERS volume can be found here:Β www.sodor-island.net/ersdataba…

Jinty is based on the LMS Fowler Class 3F 0-6-0 tank engine:Β en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LMS_Fowl…

I have my own interpretation of Jinty: he is the East Lancashire Railway's own jinty, number 47324, and was renamed Jimmy when the railway had to retire Day out with Thomas events and started doing "Jimmy the Jinty" events. The DOWT license was renewed in 2011, but Jimmy's name still stuck. What do you think of this 01salty?

I hear Jinty worked with Butterley's 47327 (Now a Thomas lookalike) before he came to Sodor.
