i love lord of the flies. jack is probably my favorite character. then again, i don't think i dislike any of the characters in the book to begin with.

it's one of my favorite books as well, despite just having read it this summer! (tbh though, i've wanted to read this book since like 8th or 9th grade.) and ikr, even though all the characters have their flaws.

I'm teaching him how to read but no one knew that. They all got surprised that he can read the words "the" "is" "water" and "love" at age three. I also explained the dark message of the book to him and right now, we often roleplay the characters or simply pretend that we're savages. It's pretty fun calling him Percival and he'll wail a bit because he wants to be Jack. We also sing Kyrie Eleison (the theme song from the 1963 movie) out of the blue

It's good the way it is considering the style you used. If you had made him any more serious, it would have ruined it a bit, no offence - there would have been a contrast between cartoon and semi-realism and for this picture in particular, I'm sure it wouldn't be a good mix.
You captured his expression well though.
