Description
Well, my order of parts finally came in again. And... they're all wrong. The Angaru and Ahkmou's Rau somehow shrunk (but at least the Angaru fits on a head so I can get this hilarious picture), while Uira's Kadin grew (I really tried to whittle down the axle to get a bobblehead, but it was taking too long). Fortunately the Arcana and Calor's chestplate seemed to fit nicely and I was able to pick out a few issues with the model I'll need to fix before they are finalized. But they're close. I was more worried about the Nova Orbis masks, but I guess I'll just have to make do...Related content

Maybe one day, the sets will come..., as a new dawn of the old age. The legend, must carry on!

Are you working with the creator of Nova Orbis to make a line of actual sets? With bionicle canceled again 3d printing could really be the next thing for fans.

Yes... and no. I'm working with NickinAmerica to design some masks and armor bits for his comic, and there was some talk about making "sets" out of it, but I guess what happens after I finish is entirely up to him.

The model for that chestplate is probably the furthest along from this project and is all but ready to print. The only reason I haven't uploaded it anywhere yet is it was a part of a larger project. So I guess if some people want to use it, I can put it up.

The right and bottom ones are already on Shapeways, and I hope to finish the other two very soon. I had some trouble getting them to fit Metru heads, but I think the new G2 heads can solve that problem.

When will you start selling the masks on the top? (Ahkmou and Uira's masks)

Well... when I finish them. They are currently too slim to fit on any headpieces, and it's going to take some drastic redesigning that I haven't mustered up the energy for.

The one on the right can be boughtΒ here , and the one on the bottom left is here , but I still need to fix the scale on it. The top two are still... being worked on, more or less.

Technically their models are finished, but as you might be able to tell, they don't fit on a head. The cheek areas are too narrow (something that comes from NickonAquaMagna's style, on which these were based), and I've just become frustrated with trying to fix it without utterly ruining the design.

Though I do have a 3D printer (and I'm trying to sell the hunk of junk off to someone who can use it), all of these were actually printed at my school, and all the colored prints I've done were from Shapeways.

Well... not currently. I'd really like to get back into it soon, but I have a few old requests I need to finish up first before I can feel good about taking on more.

TheΒ Kanohi Arkahna (right) and Kanohi Angaru (bottom left) are currently up on Shapeways, but I'm still working on finalizing the top two. They were based on designs from NickinAmerica, so I'll have to ask him before putting them up for sale.

I Love the nova orbis mask and it's cool to see their pieces in real life.
I'd love to get my own custom mask done but I don't has PayPal or anything like that

No, I haven't gotten around to figuring out all the measurements for 2015 heads. I'm not even sure 3D printed parts would have the necessary durability for those clips. For now, these are just for G1 heads, Metru heads in particular.

Just a personal thought, but I think it's better to work with the Gen-1 heads in general. This might just be because I have a detest for the reboot and CCBS, but I do think that the old Bionicle has plenty to offer and even more to gain with 3D printing in general. As supply of parts grows short and demand rises, it's really a great relief to collectors and MOCers.
ALso sorry for the commenting on so many of your things in one day >_<

Be careful about the thinness of the eye holes on some of these when painting them, the main reason I don't really paint pieces is because I can't afford high quality enough paint to do a part and have it not look globby even up close.
Jin Saotome is like my idol in this regard but you're busy making imagination reality so there is something truly special even when I look at these "failures" (that are just stepping stones in a process).

I've heard that the trick to that is to use some thinner, but I haven't tried it much myself.

These are really nice looking. Are you still planning on putting these on shapeways when you're done? I'm definitely interested in buying if they aren't crazy expensive. Heck, I'd buy some of those from you directly if that's what it came down to. Β
As a side note, looking at the "official" version of Uira's Kadin, I actually like this larger one a bit better, and the smaller Angaru doesn't look too bad, either. Β

The Arkahna and Angaru should be going up on Shapeways very soon. The other pieces will be up to their owner.Β
Based on the cost I've been getting these printed from my school printer and the cost of the others on Shapeways, I'd estimate that they would be going for somewhere around $5-10 each. I've done what I can to reduce material without making it fragile, and it seems my efforts are paying off.
