I just saw GI joe 2 and I think Duke might still be alive? We're never shown his dead body in the movie, people really were sad Duke wasn't in the sequel, the explosion that supposedly killed him might not have burned him but blasted him somewhere else.
In G.I. Joe one he was in plenty of explosions a lot of times and he was okay plus with many fans wanting Duke back I think he might be alive in G.I. Joe 3. I kept expecting an after credits scene showing Duke alive that's why they delayed the movie right to add more scenes with him? So why not an after credits scene showing him alive?

He died. There was a scene where Roadblock went up to his body, and grabbed his dog tags.
Anyways, I don't think he is "dead" dead. I think they could say that Cobra grabbed his body after that scene and brought him back to life through technology/nanomachines or whatever. Maybe they replaced his body right after the attack that night. Used nanomachines on some random dead body to make him look like Duke and swapped clothes. A bunch of scenarios you can come up with though.

I know that in one script for Revenge of the Fallen they had General Hawk running NEST which would later become GI Joe

Recently there was an interview about the possibility of a G.I. Joe mvoieverse and TF movieverse crossover, most likely the chnaces are it will be a comic book series but it all depends after both series has a more established arc to them, so we'll have to wait quite a while...

It's possible though, considering that Capt. Lennox was in some G.I. Joe comic books, I think.

Possibly... I saw the movie twice opening night and then when it came out on DVD. That's enough for a lifetime for me. I'm not checking. All I know is it's the guy who Bumblebee "peed" on. X0
