Description
Hello! This is my first theme for Gnome-shell.
'Nord' is the French word for "north".
Buy me a cup of coffee ☕️: ko-fi.com/redalazri
- Initial GNOME 3.4 support.
- GNOME 3.6 support.
- Fixed for GNOME 3.8.
- Completely redesigned: Featuring nicer widgets and reworked dialogs. Should impress.
- Corrected many regrassions from 1.6.
- Changed font to Liberation Sans.
IMPORTANT:
There is a bug preventing extensions from getting fixed using user-themes:
- If you want an extension supported, ask.
- If you want the already-supported extensions' styles to take effect you will need to manually comment out their styles in /.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/xxxxxx/stylesheet.css. Otherwise it's broken.
- If you're still on 3.4 or 3.6 DO NOT update. I don't have an old version.
One last thing, If you like to take this effort and build on it, please do but give me credit by linking back to my page. Thank you!
License:
You also need Liberations Sans.

What happens if you change the theme back to the default? And, are you using and old version of Gnome Shell?

Great theme - just one small question: when I go to Activities > Applications, the text below the icons is heavily truncated. I tried tweaking the apps.css but the text width won't change along with the icon width (as it does when using other themes). Any idea how I could fix this?

Yes, Nord isn't compatible with 3.4 yet.

Thank you and Cbowman for the work you have done. But how can I change the icons into smaller ones displayed when I go into Activities?I am afraid they are too large to search my applications.

It's such a nice theme, but when I have full screen window with a light color, then I can't see the top panel at all (because my top panel is auto hide activated and it overlaps with the maximized windows)
but any way, it's not a big problem, This theme makes me feel good

I Haven't thought of that. If the extension provides a class when it's hidden I can work something out. Otherwise, sorry.

Like everyone else has said already, awesome
question though, not sure if it has todo with your theme..
i Think its general gnome 3.2 "issue".. but i thought i'd ask..
Say you download torrents with Transmission (no no not ME, a Friend is doing that ) for every torrent it creates a "entry" in the bottom right thing.(when you move the mouse to the bottom right corner it shows some stuff like "Removble Devices" like you have in the screenshot above) it will soon get filled with old torrents i ehh my friend
have downloaded.... but that is maby like it should be in GNOME 3.2 ?!
anyways, keep up the good theme-work!!

That's how the message area works on GS. It should group them and add a counter. I'm certainly not the best person to ask this kind of questions.

tnx for the reply
and it was Kindof like i thought it was, that it was a GS "issue" ... but figgured i'd ask
keep up the good themeing

I like it, but can you suggest me a GTK3 theme to go with it?

Thanks.
We still don't have much choice when it comes to GTK3, especially since 3.4 breaks everything. I use the default theme or Orion.

good job , it will very good if you add support for unity (i didn't yet tested with unity) in next update with gnome 3.4

0rAX0 In reply to bmoez [2012-05-04 13:32:34 +0000 UTC]
That would be impossible. Unity and GNOME Shell are two different worlds. Plus, Unity doesn't support themes -yet.
