The usually stoic crystal gem couldn't help but smile at your antics, which were racing Steven around the beach and wrestling with Amethyst. You were a particularly energetic human, with sparkling (e/c) orbs, a bright grin, and silky (h/c) hair that swayed gently in the summer breeze. Garnet found herself watching you more and more recently, something that confused her greatly.

Maybe it was when you laughed to hard, you started to snort? Or that one time you sneezed and fell backwards? Or maybe when she caught you dancing and singing into a toothbrush? Whatever it was, it made her nervous around you. She could feel her cheeks warm up, or her hands twitch. She wasn't sick, the gem would have known, and both of her gems weren't cracked in the slightest. So what was it?

Back to you, (Y/n), you had just finished up a round of tag and flopped on the sand next to the small half-gem. Steven rolled on his side to look at you, a grin stretched on his features.

"See? I told you running in sand is harder!"

You simply nodded, a tired smile on your face and you felt the full extent of your energy leave you. The sun beat down on both of you, making a small sigh leave your pale pink lips. Only when you felt a shadow shield you from the light did you open your exhausted (e/c) orbs to stare back at a familiar pair of shades.

"Garnet!" Steven cried, pleased to see his square mom.

You grinned up at her, making her turn scarlet but luckily you didn't notice.

"What's up, G?"

Garnet remained silent for a few moments before simply nodding towards the sunset. Ah, she was trying to say it was late and Steven needed to sleep. Not to brag or anything, but you had gotten good at telling what Garnet wanted to say. With a wave and a wink, you were off and running back to your home. Garnet watched you leave with Ruby sighing loudly in her brain and Sapphire scolding them both for not saying anything....again.

Maybe next time she would stop being such a Dweeb and talk to you.
