I'm jealous of Europeans because they have such ready access to a good work horse. I'm working on a commercial license here in the states, and an AN-2 would be the perfect aircraft for pretty much anything.

An-2 from Russia cannot be used in USA and other Western countries, but the Polish ones can. [link] (See here, the last paragraph before "Combat service").

Well aware, actually. That 480km limitation seems silly. Not bad if you're glider towing or dropping skydivers.

yeah ,but I think it should be possible to get one ,even in the states .I mean they builded more then 18000 "annas" and Iยดm pretty shure the thousands of them keep on rusting on small airfields around the world
Thanks for the comment

It'd cost so much to go over and grab one, sadly. I mean, we got the Jet Warbirds here in the states. Just the other day, I saw about 6 MiG-23's for sale to civilian fliers. L-29's, L-39's, TS-11's, MiG-15's, and MiG-21's are readily available. I want to own one some day, but.. it's hard to tug a glider in a Fishbed. Or charter people around in an Iskra.

I've had a chance to fly the L-29 and 39 with instructor/owner in back. Oh yeah, that was the most fun I've ever had.

What kind of engine does she have? If I didn't know better, by looks of its cowling I'd be tempted to say a Pratt and Whitney R-2800. That's not it though, I know that...

Nice shot in any case.

Iยดm pretty shure they still use the original Shvetsov radial engine ,wich is actually an improved whright cyclone.
Thanks for your comment
