Very nice. Haven't seen a good use of arcologies (cities in a building) that I thought was "realistic" in a while. The fact that they are in a wilderness is what really makes it work for me, as the whole point of an arcology is that it IS a city and is not WITHIN a city, and thus minimizes it's impact on the surrounding environment. Love how the aircraft are futuristic without appearing too far ahead. Kind of a Max Headroom-ish "20 minutes into the future" bit.
From a science aspect, though, the atmosphere is a bit suspect. If the sun is up (this can't be Earth I realize) but you can still see the stars that well, then the atmosphere must be pretty darn thin. And if the atmosphere is that thin, wings aren't going to help aircraft much so I'd have expected them to look more like spacecraft than aircraft. But hey, who knows the tech level, so it could all work fine.
You should make it a print, but the fact that it's for a magazine might preclude that. Shame. And if it was a wallpaper (or at least big enough so I could turn it into one) I'd use it. Great work.

reminds me of something you would see in the video game Anarchy Online somwehere in the shadowlands... maybe a jobe appartment if it was on solid ground and not floating in mid air. the ships in it look very much like the drop ships you would see in AO as well, cna't help but notice the simularities very nice piece

I remember this when you submitted it. The sky is gorgeous, I love the atmosphere you've set up here, although I think it should affect the colours of the planes a bit more, their blending seems just a tad out of tune. The structure is superb, I really enjoy that, and the subtle blue lights, although the door at the top also stands out a lil too much. Terrain level is nicely worked through, too and the planet is a good touch to round it off. Congrats on the DD, I enjoyed this piece.

might as well make it 13 right?
I live it, especially the craft heading in from the upper left.

rockin', you developed a believable space thanks to the atmospheric perspective. Thank you for not using the 'lens flare' filter for the sun. Excellent overall.

Seems like it. Except instead of props they have jets.
This might just be me, but there is something about the scale that feels screwy. Around the upper right corner in particular.
