the Spirit Links are able to change the age of their projection depending on their emotions, but Time tends to do it the most. as he is ancient, he has less of a grasp on his corporeal form :y(featuring- Dinβs Flame)

It makes me cry happy tears seeing Time rediscover himself <3 Maybe cause he's always been THAT Link that I grew up with and have a special place in my heart for him.
Poor guy goes from mischievous forest sprite kid who becomes an "adult" (a feat which would stunt someone into being a child forever) then forced back in time to an alternate version of his world, thus separated from his friends and experiences he went through. I imagine not only loosing Navi, but also seeing any of the alternate versions of people and event must have seemed like a shadow of what he thought was real. Then of course his regrets as he got older finally leading to him in Twilight Princess.
I just... so many feels. and only now REALIZING it when I'm an adult also makes me sad.

oh yes, me too! Ocarina of Time (along with Link to the Past) was my childhood zelda game, and i always felt a little bad for him even before i was aware of it. i know a lot of people assumed his mind became older when he slept the 7 years away, but i have suspicions about that. and even on top of everything that happens in OoT, there's also Majora's Mask. poor kid never caught a break did he U-U

I just realized something coming back and looking at these, if Time tends to change his projected age the most based on his emotions then is it possible for him to pop all the way back to his child appearance in MM? Not sure what would get him to do that but deep down Time is a playful dork xD i mean he does steal the fishermans hat heheΒ
Poor guy has been through so much though that he doesn't often get to show that childish, playful side of himself. He takes the role of wise mentor upon himself to guide his successors ... so they don't make the same mistakes he had.Β
Just like how Wild blames himself for failing to defeat blight ganon i bet Time feels awful that in a way he's responsible for the hardships his successors had to go through. If he had never opened the Door of Time Ganondorf would've never gotten the triforce of power and all those events that followed could've been avoided.... even when he thought he'd gone back in time and fixed it it turns out that it wasn't that simple.Β
The timeline had been fractured as a direct result of Times actions. I can't even imagine the guilt he must feel knowing what happened in the other timelines after he was gone ....Β hyrule being flooded and sealed away, hyrule being engulfed in darkness plagued with monsters forcing people to hide underground, the sacred realm becoming a den of nightmares, and so much more ... Even Twilight had to go through hell because Ganondorf came back. The execution that was meant to end things only ended up making everything 10x worse. All the while Time couldn't do anything about it. I feel so bad for Time ... it would be nice to see him be able to be a kid again and have fun like he used to ...Β

if i remember correctly from my backlore on tumblr, Time only turns into a child when he's particularly upset or having a flashback. most of his trauma happened when he was a kid, so it's not a great sign when it happens. i think Twilight has only seen it once or twice.Β
as for the guilt, i'm sure he carries a lot of that, especially when he was alive. but i think Sky sort of reassures him in that. Sky is the one who holds the most guilt, as he's the reason Demise set the reincarnation curse. Time is just one of multiple (unlucky?) children who have been chosen to deal with this, and that weighs heavily on Sky.Β
