You sighed. This had been a bad idea. Even from the start you didn't want to come, but one of your more-than-acquaintances-less-than-friends-that-was-too-popular-to-know-you-better went and begged you to come, even though all the past times you had been suckered into it, they ran off with some other people that you didn't particularly know or want to know. It was Halloween. Yupp. You got suckered into another dance. Where most of your friends avoid it like the plague, I guess you were just scraping past the quota for being popular enough to be suckered into it. You sighed again.

You didn't really have a costume, so you just wore some formal clothing from a wedding a few weeks ago. That was a fun time, you actually danced, and made jokes and were involved. Now, you were being the typical wall flower, not really hanging out, away from the dancing, alone, against the wall, eating or drinking some stuff they put on a long table in the back. You occasionally got someone to smile and wave, and got that more-than-less-than person to bug you to dance or drag you places.

All you really wanted to happen was for someone to ask you to dance. Not just dance, though. You sucked at that. We are talking the legit slow dance that all the couples did, or even just friends did, or the occasional messing around three person dance. You knew that it was easy to do, and anyone can do it, but not a single soul had asked you, the whole time that you had been to any dance and just hung at the back, being sociable when possible, no one had asked. Heck, no one had even asked you out yet, how did this make a difference?

"Um, excuse me, would you like dance with me?" you heard someone say, tapping your shoulder. You turned your head. It was another wall flower, like you, but unlike you, they were one of the most popular people here, and was almost never alone. You never saw them dance with someone else. As it registered in your head that they asked you to dance, you nodded. "Sure." and you walked away with them, smiling your face into bits.
