Sounds like the entire series after the first really.
They don't understand pacing dude, COD4 was amazing, so immersive and real yet still arcade-y enough.
They just go for epic shocks all the way through. It gets tedious.

The design leads were just lazy. Lots of recycled stuff from the 2nd game, next to nothing brought in from MW1.
All in all, the gameplay is solid, but it's just a smoothed out version of MW2.

I just got done setting up a cheap(ish) gaming platform for my folks. Put in a 2.8Ghz APU, 8GB of ram, a Blu-ray drive, and a 500GB HDD with Windows 7 x64. Of course, they'll probably never use it for anything other than web browsing and word processing, but damn it if it won't be fastest web browsing, word processing machine they've ever owned.

The base HL2 campaign is superb, great weapons, awesome effects and sounds. Theres lots of matrix-y addons for it but I avoided those for the most part. Playing HL2 with some really powerful feeling guns and a major risk of death was enough for me
