I asked one of my friends if they liked the piece as I was especially proud of all this one says so I asked what they thought of it and how they saw it and the response I got was "it's a bit scary she looks pregnant."

i know what you mean,i get strange reactions to my work sometimes,some people just don't get it!
my p3 honda humanoid robot model,for instance,took 150 hours to complete and got no reaction for over 6 weeks.
then it got noticed!

The only thing I have to compare to that is an animation someone requested I put in a piece I was doing for them.. they wanted the explosion, they decided, to look real and be animated (of course they didn't decide that until I was finished and presented the finished product to their specifications after more than one requested modification to said finished product).. so I worked hard on that, added hours of time to get the explosion just perfect.. and once I was finished I presented it to them and they brushed it off and said oh.. nevermind I thought the explosion would be bigger, but if that is the biggest it will be (as it was a background explosion in the first place) then I guess I don't want it animated after all..he said.
nevermind that I was doing this to be nice and spent all my free time doing this.. just blah.. nevermind..lol..
people have no idea the time this stuff takes!
So I definitely feel for you! By the way, I don't do 3D modeling (or at least not well at all.. I do have Daz, but that is as far as I go!).. so I might look to your work from time to time!

oh boy,what a thoughtless reaction you had for all your hard work.it's not so bad if you make something for yourself and just post it,but for a commission to be rebuffed like that is really bad.don't let it get you down,as you said,people have no idea the time and effort we put into these pieces.
