I honestly couldn't recall even after rereading what kind of pony Azrael was, but I had a hunch it was pegasus. I hope I'm right.

Azrael makes a kick-ass pegasus (I actually thought he was a griffin at first....
He's one of the best characters to play as on Lego Batman.

This pic is awesome in so many ways I can't describe it but I'll do my best.
First, it's great to finally see Azrael in your style and you did a great job. I love the detail you put into his costume and how you stayed faithful to his original design while still adding your own touches (the symbol on the face is usually red but the yellow you used really works with the rest of the costume) and I love the position and dialogue you used. I especially love Luna's facial expression. I also love how Azrael's face looks like he's silently saying "F@#k you".
Now, about the type of pony Azrael is meant to be. I was going to leave it a mystery until part three where we explore his origins (most ponies who meet him can't tell if he's an actual pony because he doesn't have a tail. It was burned off). But if you want to know, Azrael in the MLP universe is meant to be a zebra (I should also mention that in my stories involving him, he'll never show his face). I don't know what gave you the hunch that he's a zebra because I never wrote down that he has wings (he has wings and tail made of fire because of the power that the order/ sect he serves gave him but their artificial).
Still great drawing and I'm happy to finally see Azrael in your style. Hopefully we'll see more of him soon

I think I got the pegasus thing from the fact that he took over the niche of Batman (who's ponified into a pegasus) in the comics. In my personal headcanon zebras can be unicorns and pegasi too. I haven't mentioned that before, but it's been in my brain for ages.

I understand what you mean but in my stories, Bat-Stallion won't be appearing and Azrael's an earth-zebra.
