This is my entry for a challenge on conceptart.org In the realm of the insect world, the societies that exist are ruled by a monarchy. There is a ruler for each type of insect and each ruler is part of The Gathering. The Gathering is where each of the head rulers meet to discuss the best interests of their people, resolving disputes, signing treaties, etc.Rules
- Can be male or female
- MUST BE HUMANOID, you can mix half human, half bug if you would like.
- MUST be insect based. Look up what insects are if you don't know.
- Make them look like a ruler! Don't just go generic and call it good. Push the design, give it clothes, jewelry, etc.
- Backgrounds are permitted this week.
- At least 3/4 of the character must be visible. No back views are allowed without a front please.
- Sketches or rushed artwork will not be accepted into the poll
- NO ENVIRONMENT BACKGROUNDS! You may use simple shapes,gradients or silhouettes.
I decided to pick the Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle for my insect ruler, and because is Japanese I've also decided to use the samurai armors as reference of his helmet.
DON'T use/modify/repost in other sites my works.

I see you've added the "don't use my art" icon but you've also added a cc-by-nc-nd license. That's kind of a mixed message, is it okay to use your art non-commercially with proper attribution or not?

very cool, nice design. a recommendation I could give you is to refine the painting more. put most of your detail in the focal point ( the beetle's head and helmet). use a very small round brush and really detail the mask and helmet.

This is really interesting, I like the design! I like how you mixed the clothing and anatomy together into one. It's pose looks like it's giving orders, so I think if you added a few bug soldiers, it would help tell the story a bit more.

Looks like Shredder had unfortunate experience with mutagen after contact with rhinoceros beetles.
