Interesting sketches, also I'm noting that a few look a little like birds. But that might just be me.
As for the most practical in my opinion would be the middle on the left.

Yup. Birds are very familiar and easily associated with flight so that was the first thing to pop up into mind when doing these.The early sketches resemble that of birds and my last sketch the bottom middle started to look like a fish. Pretty fun exercise for quick variations. For functionality would be the next step after I pick my fav and develop it even more. I tend to not worry too much about functionality early on because it tends to limit design and slows down the creative process.
