He's actually is one of the first in hundreds of years to forge a Battle Bond with a Pokemon. Its essentially like the Drift in Pacific rim where he can actually feel and see from their perspective literally he can feel even blow or even mimic the movement of the attacks, if he ever got a chance to unlock an aura he'd probably have the powers of his Greninja that he bonded with.
Not saying that the rules would be bent in his favour but having his team with him could give him an advantage with near magical abilitiesΒ
