I added Arlon because I like him, and I couldn't think of much dialog for for Viridi...

Sorry to break it to you but anything you see in Super Smash Bros. isn't actually canon. Super Smash Bros. is a crossover fighting game and has no story content aside from the Subspace Emissary in Brawl. Dark Pit being Viridi's minion is about as legit as Solid Snake having a conversation with Slippy Toad: It's just put in for fun, nothing more.
Besides, Dark Pit doesn't let anyone boss him around. Much less an annoying little brat like Viridi.
Nice picture of Dark Pit, though. His face shows he obviously doesn't care if the flowers live or die.

The main differences between Palutena's guidance and the Snake codecs is that the KI gang,(mostly Pit) do that in their own game.
Having common knowledge of other Nintendo games isn't something that's just been introduced for this special feature in Smash.
I would think that the conversation with Dark Pit was "just for the crossover" if it wasn't for the cast's tendency to break the fourth wall
and talk about things not related to the game they'er in. It really felt like a huge nod to a sequel...
Also Pitoo can't fly now without divine aid. So a compromise would be in his best interests.

Those are very good points. I never looked at it that way before! It would be really cool if that game did get a sequel...
One more point, though: In Sm4sh Dark Pit says he joined forces with Viridi because they shared a common enemy in Pit. However, Dark Pit is unable to kill Pit without causing his own destruction, plus they were on good terms at the end of Uprising. For instance, Dark Pit repaid Pit for saving his life by helping Palutena restore Pit's burnt wings (SPOILERS), but he had no obligation to aid Pit when he pierced Hades' chest with the Lightning Chariot and pulled Pit out of Hades' body. It seemed to me like the two were friends in the end, and I can't imagine Dark Pit suddenly turning sour and joining with Pit's enemies to try and destroy him again.
