Chapter 3
Expectations

Jack finished school and he was eagerly waiting for Arcee to come and collect him.
"Hey, Jack," Jack turned around to see Miko waving him over, with Raf stood beside her.
"Hey guys, Bumblebee and Bulkhead not here yet either?"
"No," Raf sounded concerned, "I wonder where they could be, Bees never late,"
"You think something's happened?" Jacks eyes widened as he looked up and down the street for any signs of them,
"Oh, there's Bulk!" Miko jumped with joy,
"Where's Bee and Arcee?" Raf looked in the direction of where Miko had spotted Bulkhead, but it was empty.
Bulkhead pulled up alongside the three of them and opened his door as soon as he stopped, "C'mon guys, get in," he said hastily, "we have someone for you to meet,"
"The capsule?" Jack smiled slightly as he climbed into Bulkheads vehicle mode and closed the door behind him, before he could lock himself in with the seatbelts, Bulkhead was already moving,
"Sorry for the late pick-up, we were just showing him around the base,"
"This is so cool!" Miko punched the air and could barely remain still in her seat.

"I insist on a check up, Ouzel," Ratchet had been looking for an opportunity to check the mechs armour for signs that it had been replaced or stolen, he was sure that this mech was wearing scavenged parts from an old friend, but he needed a closer look before this could be proven.
"Right now?" Arcee protested, she had just been showing Ouzel outside, giving him his first look at earths sun and landscape,
"Actually, I do have a slight twinge just…" Ouzel placed his servo gently over the area that had felt bruised since his arrival,
"Perfect," Ratchet said, sounding all too happy about it, "come with me," he gestured for Ouzel to follow him into the medical bay, but before Ouzel left from sight, he turned back to Arcee who was still smiling,
"Maybe later you can show me more of this planet," he winked and then left round the corner,
Arcee sighed with a dreamy smile on her features, but her mind was distracted by a familiar voice,
"Arcee," Jack called up, "where's the new guy? Bulkhead has just been telling us everything,"
"Ouzel?" Arcee asked as she felt her face flush from saying his name, "Ratchet was persistent to give him a check, but you will meet him soon,"

"It's just under my armour; it feels as though something is caught on an energon line or…" Ouzel was attempting to tell Ratchet what was bothering him, but the doctor had other intensions, he was absently nodding as Ouzel spoke, waiting for him to finish talking so he could check up on his theory.
"Could you just lie down on the berth for me, Ouzel," Ratchet finally requested, but then he saw the mech laid on his back so he quickly spoke again, "no, face down please,"
Ouzel looked stunned and curious for a moment, but shrugged, "you're the doctor," he said with a smile as he did as he was told.
Ratchet hurried over and immediately began prodding at the mechs wings, trailing his servos down to the base and searching for any joining lines or connectors that would show they weren't originals, but to his surprise, he found nothing.
"Everything okay, doc?" Ouzel noticed how Ratchet had suddenly stopped examining him,
"Erm, yes," Ratchet sighed, maybe he had been hoping for too much, he wanted an answer about Magpies current location and was willing to blame an innocent mech for her death, without any prior suspicions, "let's have a look at that fuel line," he said with a defeated tone,
Ouzel rolled onto his back and let Ratchet tug slightly on his exposed cables and wires, he watched Ratchet closely, hoping to get an indication for what was probably wrong, Ratchet then removed his servos and cleared his throat.
"Are you able to remove your spark chamber armour?" he asked politely, knowing this was intrusive, but it was the only way of getting to the source of the problem,
"Yes, I think so," Ouzel sat up and unhitched his armour from both sides, then he clicked it up a few notches, he looked into Ratchets optics before allowing the armour plating to fall away from his body. Ratchet took hold of the armour and gently placed it on the floor beside the medical berth, when he rose to his full height, Ouzel was once again lying on his back.
Although he was used to seeing exposed mechs and femmes in his line of work, it had been a while since Ratchet saw a mech with such a perfect physique, admittedly Ratchet wasn't attracted to such features himself, but he could appreciate anatomical perfection when he saw it. Ouzels spark let out a mild heat as Ratchet got closer, it appeared to have a skipping pulse but that could be put down to nerves, the young mech had perhaps never been so exposed before.
"This won't take a moment," Ratchet reassured him as he searched for the cause of the pain within Ouzels maze of wires,
"Ouzel!" Arcees voice could be heard in the distance, "Ouzel?" she was getting closer,
Ratchet turned around to face the doorway, as Arcee turned the corner, Ouzel shot up and turned around, only glancing over his shoulder briefly,
"Arcee," he said nervously,
"Oh, I didn't realise that you would be," Arcee cleared her throat, "sorry I walked in when you were, well I'm not sorry for what I saw, because I think that you look, erm fine, and well…" Arcee then shook her head nervously, trying to stop her optics falling onto Ouzels half exposed form, "this is Jack," she said hurriedly as she nudged Jack forward with her foot,
Jack was waving with an awkward smile on his face, not quite sure what he had just walked in on,
"Jack?" Ouzel questioned,
"Arcee, Ouzel is half way through a check up, could this possibly wait until he is decent?" Ratchet sighed and rolled his optics to the ceiling,
"Oh yes, well sorry I saw you, well I'm not sorry I saw you, but…"
"Arcee!" Ratchet shouted, this time he was genuinely angry,
"Right, bye," Arcee waved awkwardly and dashed around the corner, falling against a wall and shaking her head, "oh boy…"
"What just happened?" Jack looked up at her and shrugged,
"You're too young to understand," Arcee then tried to compose herself and walk back into the main area of the base, with a confused Jack following behind.

Ouzel was just putting his armour back across his spark chamber when Ratchet began to speak with him, but this time the doctor spoke in an icy demanding tone that made Ouzel feel uncomfortable,
"You're sure you remember nothing of where you were raised before Channel took you in?"
"I'm sure," Ouzel shook his head, "why do you ask?" he frowned, although it wasn't intended,
Ratchet was about to speak again until he heard footsteps thundering towards the medical bay, just as he turned to see who it was, Arcee appeared at the door, optics blazing with anger and a scowl across her features,
"Bee just told me why you wanted to give Ouzel a check up!" Arcee pushed herself against Ratchet, forcing him into a wall, he was looking both scared and hurt, "listen to me, Ratchet," Arcee demanded, "you're clearly still obsessed with the idea that Magpie could possibly be alive and loyal to the Autobots, but you're wrong! She ruined the only chance we had to save Cybertron and you need to accept that!" Arcees scowl faded and she backed away, refusing to lock optics with Ratchet again.
Ouzel wasn't sure what had just happened, but he wanted to get out of this confined space as soon as possible, he walked over to Arcee and placed his servos over her shoulders, gently leading her out the room, "Arcee, would now be a good time for you to show me more of earth?" he tried to keep his voice upbeat and his mind occupied, any questions he had would be answered in time.

As they left, Ratchets denta gritted together, he clenched his jaw harder with each step he heard them take, furious and hurt he contemplated going after Arcee and making her take back everything she had just said, but he couldn't move.
"Magpie," he whispered softly, he knew she was still out there, he had cared for her like he was her sire, and he could have sworn that he felt a connection with this mech, but Arcee was correct… He agreed that he had gotten his hopes up the moment he saw the capsule, he had been hoping for Magpie long before he activated it and his resentment to this mech was based purely on his own disappointment…

"I'm sorry Ouzel," Arcee began as she walked him to the edge of the canyon where their base was located and slumped herself down on its ledge,
"For what?" Ouzel attempted to be polite and pretend that he had already forgotten the incident in the medical bay,
"I just didn't want them scaring you away," Arcee said softly as she looked out onto the horizon and felt the gentle warm breeze against her face,
Ouzel watched her, only now had he realised how truly beautiful she looked, with the planets orange star casting a warm hue on her face; he felt his spark pulse faster, something was compelling him to touch her and hold her close.
"Thank you," he finally said, being able to break away his gaze from her, "you stood up for me and that means a lot,"
"I can't believe they suspected you of being a scavenger, you're clearly better than that," Arcee looked down and closed her optics, she smiled as the second gust of wind tickled her face, but before she could get lost in her own fantasy, she was awoken with a warm feeling on her servos. She looked down and saw Ouzels talons laced into her own claws, her gaze followed his arm up to his face and she smiled again. Then all of a sudden, as though she had no control over her senses, she leaned in and kissed him, just as she had regained control of her own emotions, Ouzel grasped hold of her shoulders tightly, clumsily and forcibly bringing her closer, but she didn't fight back.
Arcees servos laced their way around to Ouzels wings and she felt him tremble as she reached their base and gripped hold of him once more.
Ouzel had never considered a situation like this before, the feelings and the actions were all new to him, but something compelled him to continue, go further and take control.
With his own instinctive nature in mind, he forced his weight onto Arcee and held her arms against her body, as the two of them hit the floor Arcee broke off the kiss,
"Ouzel, wait, we have only just met and today had been really eventful, maybe we should…"
"I can't wait," Ouzel interrupted as he suddenly planted yet another kiss onto Arcees lips, causing her to inhale from the shock, and yet her spark was beating faster, her body was also pushing her deeper into the lust that had been building up inside for so long, she didn't care if this was right or wrong, she wanted him. She needed him.

Starscream had been watching the blue Autobot femme walking with a seeker he had never seen before, as the two sat down on the edge of what appeared to be a crater on earth, he studied the mech, it was clearly a seeker, with remarkable wings.
Starscream wasn't paying attention to their conversation but he was listening to the mechs voice, he couldn't recognise it and yet the way he spoke sounded so… reassuring.
When Starscream looked back to them, he saw them both locked in one another's arms, pressed into the dirt of earth's surface in a moment that should be considered special, but obviously not to these two.
"I don't need to see this," Starscream turned away, "disgusting," he added, seeing a seeker together with two-wheeler would never been allowed on his Cybertron, or any world he should seek refuge for that matter, but then he heard the Autobot femmes voice shriek from the agonising pleasure the two were now obviously engaged in,
"Oh, Ouzel!"
"Ouzel?" Starscream pondered over the name for a few moments, but then hearing the gasps and obscenities coming from the two lovers, he was forced to move on, giving a whispered insult as he left; "repulsive."
