Ahhhh this is so late!!! Thank you so much for giving me time though!
This is an entry for SpicyBrownieMix 's contest
This took FOREVER ;-;
I was going to draw River and Lightning, but then I got the idea to draw this. The purpose of this piece is to show the differences between a pony and Munchkin, it is also to show how Lightning first met one of the species.

It was quiet, too quiet.
As Lightning walked through the dark forest, she could hear every leaf, branch, and twig crunch and snap beneath her hooves. She was on edge, for it was quiet, yet far from peaceful. She pushed on, deeper and deeper into the forest.
She was searching, searching for the Dark Forest Tribe. She wanted, no she NEEDED to know if the legends about Munchkins were true. Were there such things as Munchkins? Were they dangerous? Were they kind?
She needed to know.

Suddenly, a small dark shadow flew out from behind a tree, only 10 feet from Lightning. The shadow took off, and Lightning quickly followed.
Lightning ran as fast as she could after the figure.
Suddenly the shadow stopped in a small clearing in the forest. It stood still, as if it were a tree. Lightning stopped and stared, awaiting for a movement.
It was silent, the only thing Lightning could hear was the thunderous beat of her racing heart.
Then, the figure began to laugh. It turned around, and Lightning couldn't believe her eyes! It was a Dark Forest Munchkin!
"You get yourself all worked up over the littlest things don't you? Quite literally." The figure spoke.
"Wha-what are you?" Lightning questioned.
"I am a Munchkin, and you are a pony, anymore questions? I know quite a bit about you so I have no questions for you. You wander this forest often, but never have you gone this deep."
"You-you watch me?!" Lightning took a few steps backward, her heart racing even more. She was prepared to run.
"Yes, it is my job. I must help protect the tribe."
It was quiet. They stood in silence.
"I won't hurt you, as long as I think you're not a threat." The Munchkin said, breaking the tension.
"What's your name??" Lightning asked, stepping closer to the small mare.
"Forest. And your name is Lightning."
"How....how'd you know?"
"You come here often remember? You talk to yourself when you get nervous. 'Keep it together Lightning, your not being watched'"
"Oh," Lightning was shocked, she had been watched that day.
"Come, let me show you some of our forest." Forest suggested.
"O-okay" Lightning agreed.
They began walking through the forest and it began to become more spacious and less dense.
"Quite beautiful, isn't it?" Forest asked.
