This is a digitalisation of a traditional (paper and pencil) piece I made in an attempt to get into a bachelors education in Graphics Design, could only use a copier with typography found in magazines and a pencil.
I got turned down for the study, for which I am glad in the end as my current study interests me much more and I feel that studying Graphic Design would have seriously limited me in my freedom.

I'll let you know now, I never listened to Joy Division before. But after pushing from a friend, and reading those lyrics... I'm glad I have. That song is brilliant and so is your deviation.

Thank you very much! One of my favorite songs is probably Ceremony, a (low quality) recording made weeks before Ian committed suicide. I think New Order recorded it later too, but I personally much prefer the low quality original with Ian.

Ah yes, when the Joy Division is the subject, one can only worship. I get goosebumps everytime I hear the "Love Will Tear Us Apart" song, its just so beautiful and emotional! Anything from PR to production to marketing and even possibly design, though we're tought more in the theory of what appeals to people with marketing than the actual designing

It's well done, but I'm a little unsure of your intentions with this piece, for example why you chose the shape of a heart, and why you chose the placement of objects and composition in general.

A heart (cheezy or not) is a symbol for love. The idea with the original piece, and thus this one aswell, was to make a heart comprised of torn apart text. I didn't cut the stencils I used in the original piece I torn them and pasted them on a piece of paper to form the shape of a heart, a "torn heart".
If you read the lyrics of the song you might make the same connection I did.
The seperate "again" is to emphasise on the fact that it has happened before as happens to everyone in life. You fall in love, you grow apart. You either keep caring for eachother but are not able to love anymore when you're together, or you grow apart alltogether.
The quote from the song itself in pink obviously was not in the original piece as that was too complicated to produce within the 30 minutes given to make our piece.

yeah, i guess i was mainly asking about the heart. why did you choose to use this common symbol?
i'm not condemning you, it's important sometimes to make something that everyone for sure will relate to and understand quickly. i just don't think people try hard enough sometimes to look for original symbols (and other things) that convey meanings perhaps even better than established ones.
