We let this happen to you, you know. We were cowards. We, of all beings-- we who had power and were too weak to use it. Others bled. They scraped against the stones until their fingers were raw. Their daughters and their daughters' daughters inherit a world aching with wounds like these, such unjust toil... And then there are those who laid down their lives meters below the concrete...

Kind of an odd note to leave this on. But when I started doing these quest prompts, I didn't anticipate this one being finished at such a timely hour. The full text has been written since May 5th -- at the time born from a place of me goofing around in a group about weird dog ghosts, making thinly-veiled dam removal propaganda. I felt I should acknowledge that, so that I might in turn acknowledge the folks out there right now protesting nationwide, worldwide. There is pressing work to be done.

I'll quote this little post because I like it a lot: “If you've ever wondered what you would have done in 1930s Germany or during the civil rights movement, congratulations: you're doing it now.”
