So I'm back and I have a serious question. Do you consider screenshot photography to be an art? I ask because in what little time I have off, I frequently devote to killing dragons, taking down super mutants, farming 16-bit vegetables and what not. Annnnndddddddd screencapping the heck out of it because, apparently, I'm incapable of even relaxing without taking photographs of it. 

It's become yet another passion of mine and I'm distressed to find that I can't find a suitable category for something like it here.  

No, it doesn't have F-stops or ISOs or the like, but I've still had to learn to use a distinct set of tools to work within the confines of the virtual worlds created by designers and programmers. It's fascinating, and challenging. There are still angles, lighting, and what not. And I get the same thrill out of catching just the right frame, in just the right lighting, with the right angle of a dragon fight as I do a bobsledder or a horse race or a hockey game.  (Don't worry, I still VERY much photograph all sorts of sports today. In fact, far more than ever.)  So I'm not quite certain where or how or what community to turn to to further develop this particular branch of photography...if one dares call it such...I do, at least.  Please don't say tumblr. Loathe it.

I would really love to see the screenshots! but like you said, it doesn't really have a gallery here, but I do see it as a *possible* equivalent of Street of the VR.

*snugs the Penneh* I do count screenshots as actual art, just because within the game, capturing something unique and beautiful is in itself a challenge, and if someone can do that, kudos. X3

Yes I'd love to see them!! There are lots of games where I'd be taking screenshots of things I've done (sims builds are a good example xD)

The only category I've found on dA for screenies is Customization - Desktop Screenshots - Handhelds/MacOS/Other/Unix & Linux/Windows probably would be the best place to put them.

Absolutely. Skyrim screenshots are a popular artform. Whenever I go into Blackreach I turn into a photographer all of a sudden.

I know there's tons on dA. some people like myself just keep them to their steam screenshot gallery.
