Description
Well since I clearly am a long way from using orbital docking in any practical way, if I want to get to other planets and moons in the Kerbol System, I'm going to have to do it in one shot. So begins the Hermes project. this lander pictured is the Mk. II, the concept is that it would reach a moon or planet, use drills and convert-o-trons to refuel, and hopefully use these same systems to return to Kerbin.as a way to test each version's capabilities, I have them fly to the Mun, then refuel and land on Minmas, and from there return to Kerbal.
this version had serious power troubles so later models will have more deploy-able solar collectors to power all it's systems.
also more and more on the fence on whether or not swapping out the mini-thrusters for nuclear-powered thrusters was such a great idea... I mean it's fuel-efficient and not having to bring Oxidizer for it does save on weight, but I have my doubts if it's worth the low thrust output.
