Description
Inspired by and depicting a scene from the children's book "The Church Mice and the Moon" by Graham Oakley, this miniature diorama has been handmade from scratch inside a pre-cut box. The scene depicts the night before the big rocket launch to send two very unwilling church mice to the moon. Sampson, their feline friend is on a mission to help them, but there is nothing he can do until the morning. He finds a cosy spot to sleep for the night... in the rocket control box.

Lit with fairy lights in the roof to recreate the light of the moon.

The box measures 25cm by 20cm by 15cm.

Made with earth in mind, incorporating natural materials and materials diverted from landfill, including paper, Card, foamboard, bass guitar strings, computer parts and gas valve components.

This was made for my Brother, as we loved the books as children. This is his favourite book from the series.

Also hello to my followers. Whether you've been with my on my journey a few weeks or even for the 16 years I've been a member on the site, I'd like to say hi and show you the first deviation I've submitted in almost 8 years. Yes, rather different from some of my previous work, but no less important to me. A lot has changed in life, so I hope you're managing to stay safe and well in these rubbish times. Oh, and don't think the blood is over. If you're watching me for my gore and SFX, something tells me that's not over.

In short, Xerces Art has become Terra Rhapsody, but this is part of my small business rebrand. Terra Rhapsody is a more ecological approach to my jewellery, and as you can see I've branched out into miniatures more recently too. I've still been around, but as we are slaves to social media, my work has been restricted to there is recent years as well as real life getting in the way.
