Description
I was digging around in my files and I realized I could juxtapose these two flags. WHY do I have TWO Tibet colonies on my terraformed Venus? Well I made one as a political statement and the other as a matter of practicality. The Lakshmi Protectorate is a very descriptive official name for a country. It's entirely located on a mountainous plateau on the Ishtar continent, named Lakshmi Planum . It's settlers are the descendants of Tibetan exiles from the many purges and pogroms of the PRC on the Tibetan people. The land itself is sparsely populated, rough terrain, rich in minerals but closed to outsiders. It allows it's neighbor, The United Colonies of Ishtar (the local hegemon made up of leftist exiled Americans) to exploit it's mineral riches in return for protection and not interfering in it's internal affairs. Spiritually, it's known as "Free Tibet" but colloquially everyone calls it North Tibet.
On another continent is a region in the Chinese Venus colony of Artemis. Officially it's known only as Northwest Region. 西北地区 Xibei Dichu. South Tibet follows the PRC practice of assigning ethnic homelands to it's colonists to show it's official tolerance of the PRC's main ethnic groups and harmony of peoples blah blah blah. Then why do they use the Mandarin name? South Tibet is made up of three provinces. [Shouwèimén 守卫门 Huoshan 火山 Zhūnuò Xiagu 朱诺峡谷 ]
I had wanted to show the difference a few years of practice can make when tackling a single design idea. Both are Tibet flags yet both slightly different in look and quality.
