Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work with Firefox 4.0 yet ...

They should add this to dA for the rest of us that don't have greasemonkey. Or firefox.

I'm so in the need of that and I seem quite since I found this so late.

Consider getting an account on UserScripts.org. It's so much easier to publish scripts there, and people can search them!

Why isn't this public on dA instead of a greasemonkey script?

what if you used Flash's storage?

That's a good idea actually. IE has it's own proprietary "big cookie" storage too ... I was working on an abstraction layer to unify the api between browsers but I never really finished. I don't know if Flash is a better solution but it might be.

Flash would allow you to use the same solution across the board, rather than maintaining browser-specific code and something like clientside storage is something browsers change often due to security concerns and exploits. Flash would seem to be a stable solution and pretty much anyone who wants draft capability would probably already have Flash.

DOM Storage is actually a web standard now - I'd argue that it's flash which is constantly changing it's security policies and isn't in fact a stable solution
But yeah Flash might be the way to go, especially for IEeeee

Weird. I typed that as a response to comment in MC using Chrome...if this makes it, at least it's working.

This is just brilliant. I'm always doing about 20 things at once and it's been known to take me 5-8 hours to write a journal, so this will be really useful Thanks!

... I'm still having problems making the regular save feature work properly.
Anyway, cool script. I'd thought of this last night when I was working on some new CSS. Having to dodge tabs and remembering to check whether the text area is selected before hitting backspace... it'd be nice to have a draft feature similar to the way we do news.
... and here it is.

Turns out, it saves the files, but it doesn't pop up a modal to name it.
